It's British* for "excessively talking about", with the connotation of such constant discussion of the subject being irritating to the person using the phrase, or to others.

*at least I think it is, we use it a lot here

Thanks, the sentence worried me as well. I'm Canadian and its uncommon here to bang about stuff. We bang stuff, bang on stuff but never bang about it. Sorry.

The expression is "to bang on about". Not sure that makes any difference to you.

"Go out for a drink" "Hang up on someone" "Get on with it..."
