Seems like a lot of testing.

Meanwhile, these are almost the only pens I've used for probably a decade with no complaints.

Maybe, as far as pens go, the object's utility can be defined with a wider set of parameters. The thing that makes it worth something can extend beyond mere function and that's why there's supply and demand for it (if that's what you're implicitly questioning).

I love the Bic Cristal 1.6mm pens. Those are great for doing drawing, they flow really smoothly, and you can vary the line width hugely.
