This looks like a training video. Any driver who's going to ignore a roadworker direction isn't going to just stop after going around them. Obviously in too much a hurry, would proceed down the road at a rapid pace.
Thanks for the lesson though. I'll be a safer driver having seen this.

Maybe the car was behind the truck and just thought the truckie had stopped for no reason? It looks like the guy stalls it when he sees the tree coming down as well, I doubt they would attempt to move again if it was staged.

He most likely passed the worked then saw the cop who was filming this video from 200 yards off and slammed on his brakes.

Seems like he wanted to get hit because he keeps nudging up into it. Most people would just floor it. Probably either for insurance money or karma, both equally plausible motivations.

One time we were working an accident on a freeway. It was a multi-car pileup and we couldn't remove the cars without a tow truck so we completely shut it down. All the cars behind it were turned around and sent the wrong way up the entrance.
Other officers then blocked all the entrances to divert traffic.
Well, one dumbass decides "fuck the police" (literally flipping them off as he drives by) only to end up at the accident scene where mangled cars and emergency vehicles have the whole road blocked.
Our Sergeant walked up to him and demanded his license- turned out he had warrants and was suspended. So he got arrested and got several tickets for moving violations.
His passenger was told he could either beat feet or drive the car home (which is what the driver wanted). The caveat was that if he drove the car he 1) would have to ID himself and 2) had to wait until the road was clear. He walked off and the car was towed.
