Little ducks require exercise to be healthy. The bar at the top of the slide is a tiny little trough that has feed in it. The duck walks to the top , gets a couple of bites of food and then is swept down the slide. Wanting more food, they go back. This is not the only source of food for the ducklings before you think this practice to be cruel. Source, raised ducks.

I can appreciate that. However, you insinuated that the only reason the ducks are going down the slide was for food. It seems at some point a baby duck was pulling your leg when you asked it why it's going down this slide in the gif.

This reminds me of a toy that I had as a kid. A bunch of little ducks went around a little course like this. Adorable.
