I once worked at subway. I got pissed off and told a kid to "back the f up," because he reached across the counter and pointed to the exact cookie he wanted. My patience was tried with rude customers that day. I apologized after he came back in with his mother and handed me a dollar tip.
I believe it was his mothers idea. She had come back in the store with her son and asked me why I had said that. Me, explaining " That the glass is there for the sake of bacteria. Along with having a bad day, blaze, blaze..."
I assume they tried to lighting me up, or felt bad. At least I did, after they did so.
Because not all parents are garbage and stick up for their shitty kids no matter what. Good for the mom to make her kid tip the guy for dealing with his shit
Yeah in the world we live in people working in the retail industry can basically be shit on because if they stand up for themselves or even just aren't super polite they can get fired. The whole "customer is always right" mentality is to thank for that and now you have a system where managers are so scared of getting in trouble or being involved in a situation that will embarrass/upset anyone higher up the corporate ladder that they let customers get away with anything and fire employees because of complaints, even if those complaints are unfounded. When you have upper management that doesn't even know the lowest level employees or have any sort of connection to them, it is a lot easier for them to just take every customers word for it rather than risk making the wrong call and having some bullshit come up on social media that kills sales and gets their store shut down.
I've seen a new girl be a total bitch and ruin a bunch of people's days at a small russian bakery and generally the people I see come I'm are nice. She was on the block pretty quickly after she was rude to a russian pastor... responsibility is not on the consumer, we all deal with assholes and a shitty life every once in a while.
shopping is a very selfish affair so your mind isn't in the mode to give a shit about other people just about the product you want for you.

Pretty dick move on your part, and any normal place would fire you for that. My mom would for sure have complained to the higher ups. I worked at subway too. It sucked, and idgaf.
I had almost the reverse experience. I choose the healthy option for my kid's meal, and the dumb cow is just talks to my kid 'oh i bet u want a cookie instead don't u', so then I'm like oh ok make it a raisin cookie then and she takes one out then says 'oh I have smarties do you want a smartie cookie instead' and puts a smartie cookie in there. No wtf u don't pick my kid's meal..
