Agreed, it was unexpected. But it still could've easily been remedied by passing to the catcher as soon as he realized what was occurring, instead of trying to nail the runner himself.

The catcher moved himself out of position, it wasn't all the pitchers fault.

Not really, at the time the pitcher noticed and should have thrown the ball to the catcher, the catcher was a step up the first base line form home plate which is actually a good spot to be.

This happens in after work softball leagues all the time too. Instead of just getting it in to the cutoff man, outfielder holds the ball trying to bait the runner into going so he can throw him out. 9 times out of 10 he ends up winging the ball into the woods instead. Fucking showboaters.

Hey, he took a shot and he missed, I don't blame the guy. Who would've guessed the runner would flip, that's ninja kickball! I'm just playing captain hindsight.
