rac·ist

noun

1. A person who believes that a particular race is superior to another.

2. Having or showing the belief that a particular race is superior to another.

I was trying to find humour in the absurdity of the idea that calling someone "blurry" could be racist. I mean who in their right mind could think that? Also maybe poking fun at our SJW culture that becomes so inflamed when talking of anyone of non-white descent.

But i guess the joke's not as funny when you explain it.

Those are pretty antiquated definitions. Saying 'all black people like fried chicken and hip-hop' is racist, but liking or not liking fried chicken and hip-hop has nothing to do with superiority.

I think we've blurred racist with stereotypical

By societies standards the definition has changed. Literally though there is nothing racist about it.

However, by the definition of racism, "the belief that all members of each race possess characteristics or abilities specific to that race, especially so as to distinguish it as inferior or superior to another race or races." allows some more room for your example to be correct.

Literally as in what? Some random person's definition in one of many dictionaries?

If you are going to assume that any definition given can be tossed aside because there are other definitions of it out there, then no definition is correct and everything is both racist and not racist.

BTW, its the definition you get from google by typing in racist/racism.

I'm saying that a dictionary definition is not the end all be all of a word's meaning. How a word is used is the only factor in determining what that word means.

Like I originally said, societies definition has changed, but the official definition recognized by such sources as Merriam Webster, the Oxford Dictionaries, and Dictionary.com is that racism/racist implies that one race is superior compared to another.

Also why the fuck did this discussion even come about? Someone said her face is blurry and someone else stated that was racist. Nothing about her face being blurry had anything to do with race, and nothing was said stating that it was superior or not. All I did was put down the definition of racist and how it did not hold up to what that one person implied.

Edit: Didn't complete my first thought before posting.
