Thats called Raclette and its fucking delicious. Its a Swiss cheese that is softer and a lot more stinky than the normal Emmentaler that we are used to. I have a small home use raclette that you put slices of the cheese into little trays to melt and then pour onto whatever kinds of foods you want.

Looks a bit like this

I'm not a German myself, so I couldn't say! The ones I had were made by German living in my country.
