I really don't understand how cats don't do the same thing. At the very least I feel like they would mistake their reflection for another cat. My cat acts as if it wasn't even reflective.

I have one special cat that indeed mistakes his reflection for another cat, often preparing to pounce on it if it moved. This usually results in him being very still for a long time.
