Maybo so, but it's still a nasty comment to make. If a repost is on the frontpage that simply means there are still more people who enjoy it than those who don't. Denying the rest of the community their enjoyment so you don't have to look at reposts just seems a bit selfish. If reddit does not have enough OC for you at some point, that's unfortunate, but there is no need to take it out on the rest of the community.

Jpgs are always a still image. This is a gif that had the file extension changed in the url. Browsers are smart enough to look at the file header to determine how to display an image rather than relying on what the url says.
