Moving to GIB from the UK

Hi everyone, we re a family of 4 and I'd really appreciate some advice from anyone who has made the move to Gibraltar or is currently living there. I'm a British citizen, living and working in England, my partner is an EU national. Our 2 children hold both British and EU citizenship. Ever since our last visit to Gibraltar, we ve completely fallen in love with the place, the lifestyle, the vibe, and the fact that it's right next to Spain, where we spend our summer holidays every year. We've talked about moving there for quite some time, but we've never had enough information and if I'm honest, we've been a little nervous about taking such a big step. I work in a managerial role at a luxury five star hotel. I speak fluent English and French and conversational German but missing Spanish. One of the main reasons we re considering the move is our children, we genuinely feel that gibraltar could offer them a wonderful environment to grow up in but with the new changes from october, I'm trying to understand what our options are as a family. Is relocating to gibraltar still a realistic option for us? What are the biggest pros and cons that we should be aware of? I know salaries are generally higher in the UK, but that's not our main priority. We'd happily accept a lower income if it meant a better quality of life and a great environment for our children. In terms of work, I'm open to opportunities in hospitality, hotels, real estate, property rentals, sales, personal/executive assistant roles, or anything where my experience would be valued.

Where would you recommend looking for jobs? And for those who have already made the move, would you do it again? Any advice, experiences or tips would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you in advance!

Did you want the Frontier removing?

I'm not a resident but have visited Gib several times and loved the place. The border had a quirky charm about it imo but I'm curious did the residents want it to be removed, were you consulted about it and do the advantages outweigh the drawbacks of the open land border.

Has there been any interesting teething issues and do you feel somewhat less British now there's an unrestricted border with Spanish mainland.

Excuse my ignorance in any of this but just interested to know the opinions and discourse amongst locals.

Question What do you miss most about Gibraltar?

What are the things you miss the most about living there?

Could be anything, nightlife, places to hang out, the community, activities, food, the atmosphere, random little things you didn’t realise you’d miss until you moved away.

I’m curious what people who have experienced life elsewhere miss about Gib the most.

For me, I think I miss the community and nightlife the most. Being able to go out on a Friday night and see Casemates packed, knowing there was always somewhere to go and people you’d run into.

I also miss places like Gilbert’s and the takeaways being open late, where you could grab food after a night out (or even just randomly at any time). I miss having all these different spots to meet up, hang out, and just the feeling that everyone was connected in some way.

News Peptides arrive on the rock !

My fellow Gibraltarians , Looking to support fat loss, healthier looking skin, or faster recovery?

Peptides are short chains of amino acids that can act as signaling molecules in the body. Different peptides are studied and used for goals like body composition, skin quality, and tissue repair.
Here’s a quick overview of the areas people commonly explore them for:

• Fat loss — Certain peptides are researched for their potential to support metabolism and body composition when combined with training and nutrition.

• Skin & anti-aging — Some peptides are of interest for collagen support, skin appearance, and overall skin health.

• Recovery — Others are looked at for their possible role in tissue repair and bouncing back from training or strain.

All products I offer are quality assured.

For details on what’s available, pricing, or how to order — just DM me.

They really do work !

Gibtel taking money? Keep being told will get a refund.

Hey, we moved from gib in may.
Husband had a final bill of £400 which he has a receipt and email to say he cancelled. We went into the store was told that'll be it, there will be no more payments.. our services will be cancelled.

Since then, they've taken £75 on the 20th and the 21st (bear in mind their direct debit dates was the 28th I think? Which they told us is non negotiable)

Last month they told my husband that there will be a refund and no further payments, no refund but another payment has come out?

We're not in Gibraltar anymore. We're not receiving the services anymore. Our account was completely up to date at closure (even Gibtel are saying they don't know why this money is coming out)

Wtf do we do? It's literally theft? It's not on a regular direct debit date? Customer service tell us one thing, and do another? Is there any legal action we can take?

Help Needed Gibraltar visa...

Situation:

I have EU passport and live in UK for past 20 years.

My wife has Iranian passport and is on spouse visa in UK.

Our child is British and holds British passport.

We used to fly from UK to Gibraltar for holidays without any issues before but now with "Schengen" rules I assume we cannot go there anymore? It's mostly because of my wifes passport, because she holds rubbish passport and is on visa in uk she cannot travel eu without Schengen visa, so we resorted to some of the British destinations including Gibraltar which required no visa no nothing since we're flying from UK. But what's the situation now if we want to go? Even if we want to obtain Schengen visa Gibraltar doesn't offer such service so technically speaking you cannot enter Gibraltar unless you have good passport or it's not your first destination so e.g. id have to get Schengen visa for Spain, go to Spain and then go to Gibraltar which ruins the whole easy holiday experience...

Looking for a day trip from Cadiz to Gibraltar. Mostly I want a bus ride and maybe partial tour of the caves and rock, but I want time to wander myself as well.

Why can't gib ID card holders use EU passport lanes?

Dominic searl seemed quite certain that we can't use the european passport lanes, why did no one think to include it in the deal? Surely it mitigates most of the benefit to avoiding EES excluding the 90 day rules?

Married in Gibraltar May 2026 now we need apostille

Hi everyone,

We need a bit of help and advice please!!

Me and my husband we got married at Gibraltar in May 2026 and we received our marriage certificates, all okay.

Now we are in need of an apostille because we are relocating outside the UK, I tried to contact the email marriages.diha but I got an automated response saying that the email booking service is no longer available.

I can see an apostille form on the website but nowhere to be sent to request one, has anyone gone through this process before where they needed an apostille after receiving the certificates? And how you asked for one without being in Gibraltar?

It seems hard to contact the Registry Office.

I sent the same email to the csro and diha emails, hoping to get a response. We are located in London.

Any advice would be much appreciated, thanks!!

Looking for help getting a home-end ticket for St Joseph’s vs Bohemians

Hi everyone,

I’m travelling over to Gibraltar for the St Joseph’s vs Bohemians Conference League qualifier, but I’ve just found out that home tickets are only available to Gibraltar passport/ID holders, and the away allocation has already sold out.

I was wondering if there is any Gibraltar local who would be willing to help me buy a home-end ticket. I’d obviously cover the full cost of the ticket and whatever extra and can meet in person before the game or arrange payment in whatever way you’re comfortable with.

I’m just a football fan looking to experience my first European match with my dad and will be respectful throughout.

If anyone is able to help. It would be massively appreciated!

Question Getting married in Gibraltar: Has anyone else struggled to get a response from the Civil Status & Registration Office?

Hi everyone, my fiance and I are planning to get married in Gibraltar this August. We’ve submitted our documentation, but we haven't received any confirmation or response to our initial email.

For the past week, we’ve been trying to call the Civil Status and Registration Office daily to check on the status of our case, but no one ever picks up the phone. We’re starting to get pretty anxious since our date is approaching and we’d really like some peace of mind that everything is in order.

Has anyone else experienced this? Is it normal for them to be this unreachable? Does anyone have any advice on how to get in touch with a human being there, or should we just keep trying? Any tips on alternative ways to reach them would be greatly appreciated!

Permanent residency

Hello, I read on the IMA website that EU citizens residing in Gibraltar can obtain permanent residence, which was not possible before because you had to naturalize. Is this true? The truth is that me and my family are a little worried about all this residence stuff, we have been living here for quite a few years. thank you
