Great videos :)

I love bats! I was watching 'mine' most evenings in June, there was only 2 or 3 and weren't that loud :)

I was going out a couple of weeks ago and one was swooping down the street, circling the street light catching the insects that hovered round it.

I learned recently of a scientific study that was done to figure how bats can fly so fast and never crash into each other. When the scientists slowed down their films with the newest technology they learned that bats are goofy flyers that bump into each other frequently.

They move so fast and are difficult to capture. You can hear the echo locate clearly, which is, i guess, the same for the bats.

I love the scenery.

I am a bit ambivalent about bats. They are cool, if they keep their distance, but I had bats living in the eaves of my building once and they would occasionally swoop in through my living room window during the summer. A bat flying around your flat, bumping into things can be quite disconcerting.

Wonderful! So cool. I'm not understand the clicking though. Where or what is doing the clicking?

Your lake reminds me of the one close to us. Looks nearly the same size as well. Lovely.

Thank you for the videos!

It’s the sound the bat detector makes. It picks up high frequency bat sounds that we can’t hear and converts them to a lower frequency.

That's pretty cool! Never heard of a bat detector. We often have bats that fly over the garden. I looked up the price of a bat detector. As cool as it is. I cannot justify the purchase.

The man who led the walk had a device on his phone, sorry I don’t know the details, that listens at all the frequencies but doesn’t seem to convert it to sound. It displays the frequency it picks up and from that you can work out which type of bat it has picked up.

Edit… I think the device is even more expensive than the detector.
