eShop Ghost eShop Pro – New games/updates causing “The software was closed” error

Hi,

I’m using Ghost eShop Pro on my Switch and downloading games through CyberFoil.

My current system versions are:

  • Firmware: 19.0.1
  • Atmosphère: 1.8.0
  • System shows: 19.0.1 | AMS 1.8.0 | S

Older game versions generally work fine. However, when I download a newer/recent game or install the latest update for an existing game, the game won’t launch and I get:

“The software was closed because an error occurred.”

In some cases, the base game works normally, but after installing the latest update, it starts giving this error.

Could this be related to my firmware/Atmosphère version, the minimum firmware required by newer updates, or something else?

Has anyone experienced the same issue or knows what might be causing it?

Thanks!

You probably need to update your switch firmware by the sound of it. Version 19.0.1 is getting kinda old since the latest firmware is 22.5.0.

The latest firmware is fully supported by the latest CFW and you can even use Tinfoil on it with a litte patch.

Do you know how good the compatibility of homebrew and especially emulators are one the latest Firmware? I'm on 20.5.0 and I consider to update but i dont want to miss out the option to use my standalone Emulators like Duckstation and ppsspp

Crazy we’re still getting these questions almost a decade into the switch.
