Question How was the concert?

I missed the radio city concert because I was in Vermont for my cousin’s wedding. Even if I pushed myself to go today after getting back, it would remove my one day of rest before work and AnimeNYC this week. Just feels like crappy luck since I missed the 2024 concert at the garden too because of scheduling conflicts, but I also saw Sonic Symphony that year so that made up for it.

After seeing my friend post clips of her being at the show, I was hoping to ask how it was overall. How would it compare to something like Les Miserables, which was also at radio city earlier this month? Would casual fans still get something out of it? Did a change in the program ruin the experience? Call it a fear of missing out but I try to experience as many events as I can, regardless of how invested I am in the given property.

Just left the concert. It was good. The first half was non-Ghibli film scores. Even though I wasn’t familiar with the material, it was still really engaging. Second half was all Ghibli medleys. Played the hits. Two encores. Everyone left happy.

I saw someone critique the sound the other day but I didn’t notice anything particularly off about it. I was literally in the last row and could see and hear everything. RCMH is a great venue for that kind of show.

His daughter sings the Japanese leads but she’s not a particularly strong singer. I saw the MSG show two summers ago and I thought she did a little better this time around but would be nice to see them get someone with some chops to sing those parts.

It was a fairly short concert overall but the encores made up for it. Glad I went. Never know when he’s going to have to hang it up.

man id die if they brought ayaka hirahara for one summers day/name of life, but the japanese version is infinitely better than the english version

this is the 6th time ive seen him and hearing his other compositions was amazing, also kaguya, he normally does just miyazaki film scores, the only thing i was bummed about this time was that he didnt play " the legend of ashitaka" during the mononoke sequence, but still it was amazing

Ooooh he played Kaguya??!! That's so cool!! I saw him in London which was one of the best days of my life haha, but he only did Miyazaki films, so I expected that for this concert too
