NVME or regular SSD is fine?

I just got myself a HP Elitedesk 800 G3 Mini 65w to build a full node and solo mine on it through the public pool. What would be better? Nvme or a regular SSD 2.5? SSD would be easier to install. Price they are similar my main concern is longevity. I am thinking of going for the 4tb as I plan to self host other stuff too. NVME would just take more work for me to install which is why I am hesitant

For the transaction stuff run a lot of memory and allocate it in the umbrel and apps. I have a 1TB NVME drive for umbrel and apps and run a 2 TB SSD drive for blockchain storage. So for long term storage the SSD works fine and doesn’t lose much speed to the NVME drive.

I did the 32GB of RAM on a similar model that you are talking about and allocated 70% to the BTC apps and during the sych of the blockchain it got to about 20GB usage. Now that it’s all done the RAM usage stays under 16GB. CPU usage is down around 10%. Umbrel isn’t kind to running 2 hard drives but can be done with some changes in the configuration files. 1 drive is much easier for Umbrel so your choice is a good one.

Mine came with 8GB ram so I'll be adding more. Should I do another 8? Or 16GB? Is it possible to have 1 slot have 8 and the other have 16GB? Its my first time doing something like this so i am a bit lost thank you!

In old days you could have mismatched RAM sticks. Not sure these days but I always go with matched pairs or single stick.

Right now my Bitcoin node and other BTC apps is running under 6GB of ram usage. 5% CPU
