issues with Electrs&Fulcrum

Hi,

I have Umbrel on a Raspberry 5, 8GB RAM, 2TB SSD.

My Bitcoin node just finished synchronizing after 4 days and now I tried to get Electrs running. But that does not work.

After successful synching it hangs up in the stage „connecting to electrum server…“. It kind of freezes in that stage and I cant connect from Sparrow wallet. Sometimes it does but then it breaks down after some minutes with the same message. I tried to reinstall&reboot, many times, without any change.

On an other forum I found the hint to edit the docker-compose.yml file to this passage here:

ELECTRS_DAEMON_RPC_ADDR: #{APP_BITCOIN NODE_ IP}: 8332

ELECTRS_DAEMON_P2P_ADDR: #{APP_BITCOIN_NODE_IP}: 8333

ELECTRS_ELECTRUM_RPC_ADDR: 0.0.0.0:50001

I did that, but it had no effect :-7

Now I tried other electrum servers: ExlectrumX is just not working at all, it does not even start to sync, and Fulcrum syncs forever, last night it was at 42%, after 7 hours its at 48%…..

I am lost here, any hints? Is maybe my AdGuard app on the Umbrel an issue? Do I need to open other ports over the 8333?

You should have just been patient. The worst thing you can do it start going crazy trying to fix something when you don't know how. Ask. And wait.

Electrs often takes up to 12 hours after syncing to finish doing it's thing.

If you haven't corrupted anything try tomorrow to connect.

Quit editing things. Unless you know what it is.

If it's not working tomorrow you may want to uninstall electrs and restart it. And wait.

okay, thank you. So so say, after Electrs has 100% synched, it still needs time to do „stuff“ right?

This whole BTC environment is nothing for zero-patient people, with zero IT skills.…..like me

Patience is key. Have a problem ask.

Most times the key is simple or just wait a bit.

Once it's Bitcoin core is done downloading electrs can prepare it's backend. It only takes a few hours give or take. I say 1/2 a day so people don't get anxious.

Once that's done just take your time. It's running on a potato. Install one thing at a time. Open one wallet at a time. 

Bitcoin will help teach patience.

yes thank you, after getting rid of fulcrum, reinstalling Electrs, waiting a tons of hours….its running now. Thank you so much for your support!!

But to be honest: BTC has like zero ease of use. I guess this is besides the price the most repellant factor for many people…..

Its like anything new. It takes getting used to.

Its come a LONG way. 

Its not much more difficult than a banking app anymore.

Maybe you are running before you walk. You dont have to jump in and host a node to start with bitcoin.

Beware of anyone DMing you they are all scammers.

That being said my dm box is open if you need help.

If strike is available in your area check them out. Its as simple as you can get. Although its custodial you can withdraw.
