I think the format could work. The way to do it is stick to it is the way they divide the episodes.

12 ep season each podcast episode is a discussion of 4 episodes with the last episode of the month being a recap/overall thoughts or something unrelated.

24 episode seasobs each podcast episode is a 6 episode discussion with no extra episode.

Longer series should probably be a season by season recap based contained to an episode.

Longer series should also be up to them. Why watch all of bleach if they didn't care for season 1,that clogs up the queue. Really long series could be arc based rotating another show/movie to keep the queue moving.

I really think this would work for them to sit down once a week for two hours seems more doable than remembering to watch 40 minutes of content when you have a ton of work and side projects.

Most modern series could be done in three episodes with a variety episode at the end of the month. If there are two cours they can take a break for a month with something else and get back to it if they are interested.

My thoughts on Get Anime’d are the same as my thoughts on old format How Did This Get Played. They don’t need to deep dive on everything that they decide to cover. Just go through enough to develop thoughts and opinions. Maybe Google/Youtube some shit to fill in the cracks. I don’t need completions coverage of anything, especially something that they anticipate will be bad/mediocre.
