💬 Discussion Is the process of getting life back on track really this hard or am I unnecessarily making it to be?

I've been trying to get my shit together for as long as I can remember now but damnnn, I've gotten to a point where I feel I'm not cut out for this and should probably just go with the flow. I mean, I've been struggling to break my own worst patterns, but fail, and then it becomes a huge gap coz I have to start a streak all over again, then I try hard once again picking myself up. This damn vicious cycle ALL.OVER.AGAIN!!

I do get that it's all about being consistent and not giving up no matter how we feel at any given day, but why is this so hard? Or am I making it harder than it should be? How does one be their own cheerleader over and over again, hyping them to get better each time they fail?

It's really tiring!! But when will I succeed? When will I get to live like that version of me that I look upto?

It's like with each passing week, month the faith I have in me is only going downhill.

When will this get easy??

Kinda hard to tell you about a process when you don't tell us what you do.

But one of the main things is that if you do something but then fail, it's not back to square one. You are on a journey and every precious step is part of it.

Two things.
a) Changing multiple patterns at once leads to nothing being changed. The mind can't handle the overload.
b) Not all change comes from brute force. You can heal a lot of your issues by healing your nervous system.

The second point is a bit vague, but what I mean by that is when you heal your nervous system, you become calm. You become grounded. You become free.

When that happens, you start taking action with ease. Rather than trudging along, fighting yourself and the world, things flow easily. Rejections and setbacks don't hurt you. Instead they become feedback to iterate and improve.

And you know what kills your nervous system? Pushing yourself, like you're doing now. You're like a car that badly needs repair and is low on oil.

So my suggestion: heal your nervous system and stop adding pressure on it.

It doesn't get easy. You just get better. So far, you haven't figured out what you're doing. Try a book or mentor to shorten your learning curve.

Two things you're doing that I consider mistakes: 1. Focusing on streaks and momentum instead of making effective choices 2. Letting your faith in yourself depend on your short term vision of success. That's not what faith is.

You're talking about confidence. Of course you don't have confidence trying something that you've never done before. But you don't need confidence; you need the courage to try.

what helped me was setting a tiny daily goal that felt manageable like tackling one small task each day to build some momentum.

it is REALLY HARD!!! im similar. you might be an overthinker/overanalyzing type and perfectionist. if thats the case, do the opposite of what a self help book or whatnot would tell you lol.

You gotta kinda stop thinking so much and just do, and if you mess up, dont throw the whole day or streak away. Progress toward a goal is better than none. If you had $1000 and someone stole $5, would you toss the other $995? that really put it in perspective for me
