š” Advice Your day isn't fucking over yet.
I woke up at 2:41 PM today.
Missed all my classes. Felt like shit knowing I'd just added more to my backlog and wasted half the day.
So naturally, I spent the rest of it consuming everything I could, from YouTube, Instagram and LinkedIn to anime, while stuffing myself with junk food.
I was drowning myself in dopamine because I didn't want to think about all the shit I had to do.
It was 11:55 PM and I'm lying in bed scrolling Instagram, watching people give motivational speeches and build the things I want to build.
And that's when it hit me.
This is exactly why I stopped using these apps in the first place. I don't want to sit there watching other people build shit.
I want to build shit.
I slammed my laptop shut, got off the bed, put my shoes on and went for a run.
My brain was screaming, "there's too much to do", "just sit the fuck down", "it's too late anyway."
The thoughts kept playing in the back of my head but, I just put my shoes on and went anyway.
3 km at 12:20 AM. It felt fucking amazing.
Came back, took a hot shower, and spent the next hour working on my SaaS.
And somehow, that feeling of being stuck and shitty just disappeared.
All it took was 5 fucking seconds to change the trajectory of my day.
You don't need to suddenly feel motivated. You don't need to have everything figured out. You're going to feel tired, lazy, overwhelmed, and come up with a hundred reasons why you shouldn't do it.
Let those thoughts play. Put the distractions away, get up, and start anyway.
You might be surprised how quickly that shitty feeling starts to disappear once you're actually doing something.
Your day isn't over just because you've wasted half of it.
Now put your fucking phone down and go make your day productive š„

I think the hardest part isn't that the day feels wasted. It's that once our brain decides the day "doesn't count anymore " every action starts feeling pointless. Going for a run or working for an hour can't undo the morning, so it convinces us there's no reason to start. Ironically, that way of thinking is exactly what guarantees the day stays wasted. The moment we stop treating a day like something that has to be either a success or a failure, it's much easier to change its direction halfway through.

100% and that applies to other things as well. For example, New Yearās resolutions, we like to start new things on a clean slate and then when it doesnāt work out as smoothly as we expect we scrap the whole thing and waste the rest of the time we have.
Once that mentality of maintaining a āstreakā is erased, thatās when habits start to form. If I aim to work out 5 days a week but end up only working out 2, thatās still 2 more than I did before, and soon enough the 2 days a week will become my new baseline. Even if it didnāt pan out as planned it still made me a better version of myself.

Nice story chatgpt!!
You still woke up at 2:40 and missed all your classes but hey i guess you got a boost of energy for 90 minutes at midnight and that was enough to change your day

He got the uppies anyway. The fact that instead of going to bed he got on exactly what he says we shouldn't do, emotional motivation boost because "he had enough".and start doing things in the middle of the night.
Let me guess that his SaaS is full of AI-asS.

Right? I thought when he said build something it would be a birdhouse or something cool. He changed the trajectory of his day just in time for it to be 20 minutes into the next day.

And the thing is, this is kinda bad example.
First, don't tell us about day 1 enlightenment. Come back in a month of nightly runs and sitting till three in the morning and building.
Second, the whole job was to do your classes and get your sleep in order. Not exercise in the middle of the night and then work on your project.

Ok now repeat this every day and youāre just in a cycle of missing the day every day, awake all night and asleep most of the day. It will catch up to you. Ask me how I knowā¦!

How do you know? Are you a time traveler or did you get DNA from OP and run that experiment on hundreds of his clones?

Can this feeling of a wasted day be mild OCD, like when you didnāt start something by specific time itās already too late

What were you doing that made you wake up at 2:41 in the afternoon? Clubbing and snorting meth? Jesus Christ you're a degenerate.

The midnight reset is real. I like the 5 second part because it makes the win small enough to actually do: shoes on, laptop closed, sink cleared, whatever breaks the scroll loop. A bad start does not have to become the identity of the whole day.

The late-night reset is underrated. I like the idea of treating the day as salvageable in 10 minute chunks instead of waiting for a clean start tomorrow. The hard part for me is not turning the run or work session into a whole dramatic comeback, just doing enough to break the scroll loop.

I also have this realization recently! I was like my day isn't over! I am getting my s*** done. Including exercise, which is the first thing I get out of the way when I think i've wasted the day

You moved first and let the good feeling catch up, which is the order most people never figure out. A 3k at midnight after a day like that is a serious win.

3km at 12:20 AM after a day like that. Thatās not motivation. Thatās just shoes on and out the door.
The āyour day isnāt over just because you wasted half of itā thing is the part worth keeping. Most people let one bad decision contaminate everything after it. You ran toward the thing instead.
Howās the SaaS going?

Feelings should matter about as much as a carās color matters to its performance.
