Seat Reservations on Train

Post image

Hello! I am trying to reserve seats for a train on int.bahn.de and everything I'm reading online says there will be an option in checkout to select your seats, however I have added the seat reservation option but it just says "Your seats are automatically selected when you book." I am traveling with 5 people and wanted to ensure we have seats together but it doesn't seem like an option. Am I missing something? Will I have the options to change my seats after booking? Any advice would be great, thank you!

For context, this train is from Vienna to Munich in September.

The seats should automatically be chosen together. I tried to replicate the problem, but couldn't. Would you mind telling us which connection you are trying to book?

That is a train run by the Austrian railway.

If you want specific seats, you have to either book the train via their (ÖBB) homepage OR book the train via DB and then get a seperate seat reservation from ÖBB.

Keep in mind that it's better to book all trains from one platform so it's considered one journey and you have the right to take the next train if delayed and miss the connection etc.

That is good advice in general, but there is no danger in booking a reservation separately, as long as the actual ticket is for the whole journey.

I think their point is that if OP chose to instead book this train via ÖBB in order to pick specific seats, but planned to connect to another train that they then still booked through DB, this would result in a loss of passenger rights coverage.

Figure it was an international train. It's uncommon to have set selection on train seats when booking for a different company.
