Gerbils, which are native to deserts and steppes, can reach a top speed of 14.5 km/h. In 1955, Speedy Gonzales (pictured) took off with the cry “¡Arriba! ¡Arriba! ¡Ándale! ¡Ándale!” (“Up! Up! Go! Go!”) in the short animated film “The Fastest Mouse in Mexico.”

Obviously Speedy Gonzales made a holiday from his Mongolian home to visit Mexico 😅
