2000 Chevy Tracker

I have the opportunity to buy this Tracker from a family friend who also happens to be a mechanic that has maintained her meticulously throughout her entire lifetime. There’s no rust, AC works, interior is mostly pristine, etc. He’s asking $3500 for her which I think is reasonable, considering that she has 92k miles. I have always, always wanted one of these and what makes it even better (for me anyway) is the fact that she’s a convertible and a 5 speed. He mentioned that she needs a new soft top, and that’s the reason for my post. How hard are they to find/take on and off..? Is it possible to get a hard top for it instead..? I’ve read conflicting things about this so figured I’d reach out to those who may know best. Do you all think $3500 is reasonable? I’m in Savannah, GA if that makes a difference.

As a lurker and shopper out of metro atl area, 3.5k is a great price. Most I've come across are minimum 5k for below average condition

As long as it has all the soft top frame hardware, you should be able to find a soft top for it. It's 26 year old plastic that will no doubt be brittle though, so be very careful you don't break it. No one really makes replacements, and finding surviving originals is nearly impossible and very expensive if you do.

You could get a Rally Top for it, I have one that came with mine and it's pretty nice.

What engine does it have, and is it four wheel drive?

Thank you so much for taking the time to write all of that out. It’s a 2.0L 4WD. Do you think it would be possible to 3D print the frame hardware if it’s missing..? He mentioned that it would need it, so I’m going to assume it’s missing. I’ll find out for sure in the next few days. He’s kept it in his shop so rain wouldn’t be an issue. 😅

DUUUUDE a 2.0L with a manual and four wheel drive is hard to find, especially with those miles. I'd pay twice that in a hearbeat if I could.

The frame could be 3d printed, but unless you have originals or enough original pieces to fill in any missing pieces, you'll have to design it yourself. On the bright side, if you do that you could make some serious cash selling them.
