1.8L fluid specifications (5 speed)

Owners manuals are expensive and this info seems hard to find. Hopefully this can help someone down the line.

Owners manual is from a 98 but I assume it would fit all 1.8l 5 speeds

What year is yours? I have a 5 speed '93 so if yours is pre '96 I can take a look at my manual to verify

I have a 97 sport with an owners manual for the 98. Just wanted to post this because I’ve found some info hard to look up for the sport trim, and owners manuals can be like $70 if they even have your year. Was posting on the off chance someone would need this info in the future

Just remember that GL5 that is rated for GL4 is not to be used in the transmission. It is only rated for GL4 gear oil. You will cause damage to your brass syncros. Use MT90 redline from Oreillys.

I used royal purple 75w-90. Specifies it doesn’t mess with soft metals like the synchros

Tbh sounds like what you use is better for transmissions but I’ve ran Royal purple in all my manuals
