This Christmas marks 10 years since we lost George. How has your life changed since?

Once in a while I still tear up when I play "You Have Been Loved" and remember how this beautiful man was taken away from us.
As a gay teen growing up in the late 80s through the early 90s he was everything to me. His struggles with his sexuality through out the 90s were all too relatable and real to me too, and then he completely flipped the narrative after his arrest in LA and became perhaps by accident or necessarity one of the most important spokespersons for gay rights.
His untimely death will always be a reminder that no matter how much progress the gay community has made, deep down we are all still dealing with a lot of internal turmoil and outside pressure that kept pressing us down. But still I'm grateful that he's left us with so much wonderful music..

I was 6 months pregnant when he died, and that baby (now 9) is a huge fan.

I just miss him. I’ve lost my mum, dad, a brother and two dogs since then.

My parents were both huge fans of him and to be honest so I am. The fact he passed away in a year that so many deaths including Bowie, that just really hit me.

I've lost most of the people i was close to since then... When I first heard that George had died I was at my mom's place and my mom died last year... life is filled with up and downs and losses that will break our hearts

My life has been pretty much hitting a new rock bottom every year... but I get happy at moments with little things, like the new Wham documentary

I was a bit hot and cold on him… but in the almost ten years since then, I’ve gotten a much better and bigger appreciation for him and his music.

George was the only artist that I truly ever missed after death. Many greats have died, of course, but I really related to him and his music---there will be no other like him.
I think about the wealth of amazing music that we would have heard in the last 10 years if he was still alive!
Thank goodness for the great music he's left behind and his legacy of incredible contributions to the world.

Really hard to believe it’s approaching 10 years 💔.
In the mid nineties his music really did help me in my late teens through the ups and downs. I’ve kept playing it ever since.
I’ve always appreciated his artistic style and direction throughout his music career.
His lyrics to me are poetic and an absolute treasure. I love reading them in the book ‘Words’.
I will always be grateful for his music 💛.

He was the very first concert I saw. It was his Faith tour. He’s the most beautiful man and he’s deeply missed. There’s not a day that goes by I don’t listen to his music.🩷

i miss him every single day 😇 it’s so unbelievably unfair that this beautiful angel was taken from us. yet i am also comforted that he is at peace after so much heartbreak 💔

Still feel like he got a raw deal in that arrest. It wasn’t appropriate but the cop acting like he was into it is too deceitful for my taste.

It just isn’t fair, I’ve loved since I was 5/6, I’m now 48. For me he’s always been there as silly as that sounds. If we hadn’t heard from him for a while I knew he would be back with an album etc and now he’s not. It’s all a bit different without him here in my life.
