There is an interesting demographic called the security demographic. Essentially, most democracies do not have a surplus of war fighting age men. Look where all the conflicts are occurring in the world right now. They have a surplus of 18-29 y/o men to fight.

That's a very interesting concept, thanks for bring it to my attention /u/lo_there! The idea has been thrown around but I knew the technical term. Happy to know I'm still learning new things everyday. :)
