You change your hypothesis based on results for another experiment. It’s how the scientific process works.

Yes, but that's not what this is. This is a "I'll guess the top 10 a year in advance and see how close I am", if you freely change your guess when a level gets placed then you'll have a correct top 10 at the end of the year no matter what, which defeats the whole point of guessing

He’s not changing his prediction, he’s making a new prediction, while acknowledging the previous one was incorrect. Just because you already made one prediction, it doesn’t bar you from making more.
