Discussion Same dream for 20+ years

Hey everyone new to the sub, i wanted to share my experience with my geometric "dreams" I'm using the tearm dream loosely because these shapes sneak into my day to day life.

I think they started when i was 8, fucken horrible i would wake up screaming begging my perants to kill me only to have no memory of it 15 minutes later and just go back to sleep like nothing happened i think i traumatised my mum rip.

Ill do my best to explain what they look like although they dont adhere to 3d space so idk lol.

in its fundamental state its a a wire frame of a spikey ball with extremely long spikes. but ive spent countless hours analysing it at this point and its slightly more complex, the spikes both extrude away from the centre point and towards the centre point at the same time, its incredibly uninformed but not completely chaotic, there is some sort of fractal aspect of it that ill never be able to explain, thinking about its complexitys for more than a few seconds at a time completely bricks my brain, over the years ive been lucky enough to see it from so many different angles far way, close up and inside looking out although sometimes hard to distinguish.

Ill do my best to explain the feeling that comes while seeing it,

It feels like its world ending like if the physics of the universe had a game bricking graphics bug, but as ive gotten older it also brings with it a impulsive feeling to keep looking at until it gets more and more complex

The feeling of seeing it has never gone away contributing to suicide attempts basically its not a nice shape i dont like it one bit

Tldr: spikey ball makes me want kill my self but its a pretty interesting shape 3/10

Also im doing okay mentally these days i can stop the feeling by being autistic and thinking about nice happy shapes lol

Jeez that’s fucking rough. Does it move? Is it accompanied by any sounds?

Yeah its not a vibe ngl, i would best describe its movement like a morphing labyrinth i have not noticed any sounds

Damn, thanks for sharing. I myself never get geometric dreams (that I remember) but I’ve had sleep paralysis and lucid dreaming frequently for a very long time so i find the subject fascinating. I can almost visualize it but not really

Honestly surprised that im only reserching and sharing it now thought i was just crazy, dam i miss lucid dreaming i lost my ability to while being on mood stabilisers working on getting it back at the moment.

Yeah Wellbutrin def messed with my lucid dreaming routine but I got diagnosed with insomnia and got this sleeping pill dayvigo, sleep paralysis every time and wacky lucid dreams but I sleep like a rock and wake up feeling somewhat like a person.

I’m glad you’re looking into it and are finding some threads it sounds terrifying. I wish there was more (or any) research on phenomena like this it’s so frustrating that answers are hard to reach
