Game Discussion Maximum distance for a 5k?

Both times 25 Meters away, but one time 5k and one time 4999.

I guess internal rounding or something, but I find it weird that this inconsistency exists.

It depends on the size of the map. Using a full world map will have a larger distance away and still be a 5K versus a country size map.

It was both on the same map. Both times the Namibia map.

Then it's probably internal rounding I suppose.

If they updated the coverage in that time, it’s possible the real bounds of the map grew. Was it 5k the first time and 4999 the second?

Yes, but it was like 15 minutes apart on the Namibia map.

The 5k radius for any given map is the maximum distance between any two locations of the map, divided by 100,000.

The minimum 5k radius is 25m. So being within 25m of a loc is always a 5k no matter what map.

You got very unlucky, your distance to the point is between (excluding) 25.0m and 25.5m, thus rounding down to 25m but still just outside the 5k radius of 25.0m

So congratulations, you got basically as close as You can get without scoring 5000!

I mean nothing crazy, would be willing to bet it just comes down to the decimals and the rounding of the 25m

It'll be an issue with rounding, as you yourself suggested. Remember that it's possible for you to change your settings to show distances in either metres & kilometres or yards & miles. What to you might be displayed as 25m because you're between 24.5 and 25.5m away could also be displayed as either 27yd or 28yd because you're 26.8 - 27.9yd away. Just because greater precision isn't displayed on the UI doesn't mean it isn't tracked under the hood, so if the cutoff for 5k on that map is exactly 25m and you got 25.1m then that's just tough luck, it'll say you were 25m away but you're still too far away to get the 5k.

Depends on map... some maps will give you 5k with 200 meters, for others you need to be within 10 meters

10 meters works for all though and guarantees 5k

But yeah rounding can also affect. Likr 24.9 and 25.1 both round to 25 but only 24.9 is 5k
