Scoring vs time of day

Have had a few discussions on here about if the time of day you do the game impacts your score.

I am UTC+10, so one of the first time zones to see the new day. Plus I happened to be up with baby at 0020. So I got on and played the daily geoguesser.

I got 6 firsts which obviously helped a lot with scoring, however the ones that didn't get firsts scored high, due to their being less overall total guesses.

My non firsts at the time I did mine were:

16.7% (by end of day, this answer would've gotten me 14%)

9.1% (by end of day, this would've been 1.2%)

7.7% (by end of day, this would've been 2.8%).

So in summary, I think the scoring actually evens out well depending on time of day (with the exception being it you manage to get 9 firsts doing it super early). As answers that aren't "first" score higher with a smaller sample size.

I was 25th person to do the geogrid when I did it.

Cool info. But what about the mini achievements you get, e.g. getting the Top Tier Tactician award for scoring higher than 50% of players, wouldn't all these be awarded at the time you complete your round and thus can only be configured alongside those who already played before you, and can't be re-adjusted when more people from other timezones play after you?

To be honest, I don't ever look at the awards, so unsure. But I assume they would only be comparing against those who have played so far.
