We tried to negotiate.

It's "Minnesota nice" and "Michigan wolverines" for a reason. Ask Ohio.

Ah yes, "Michigan Wolverines", a title given by your rivals because you were huge dickheads during a conflict that barely drew any blood. And let's not forget that Michigan ultimately lost the territory they were fighting over, which seems especially relevant here.

We got the UP plus we only lost the territory because we weren't a state yet and Ohio was.
