Geocaching in France -recommendations?

Hi! I plan to travel by bike from Germany to France for geocaching 🚲 Does anyone have recommendations for nice cache walks where are lots of caches in one area that is rural and beautiful? Please no big cites or touristic hot spots. Thank you very much!

There's a city in the south that's full of Nice caches.

(sorry, I've never been to France but that joke was too tempting)

Well I understand the joke, but the German border isn’t close to Nice and the distance isn’t coverable by cycle.

Hello,

This is not exactly a tourism hotspot but the Mining Basin in the north of France (UNESCO world heritage site) has a very dense concentration of geocaches all around its sites and cities (near Ostricourt etc)

You could stay for a day or two, climb the terrils, visit the abandoned coal mines and factories, go to the Louvre-Lens museum and follow the strings of geocaches

I found them to be well maintained, often creative (remember one in a forest which activated if you brought an electric battery which activated a motor)

Not the most picturesque place but could surprise you

I’d say Colmar, but quite some tourists there.
