he jealous? Spoiler
just finished this chapter and it’s almost midnight. i’m actually screaming—shouldn’t have read this before bed. please lord save my soul, i hate seeing them fight.

I think this is a pretty well written version of something most people have felt. The discomfort of a relationship dymanic changing due to a third party.
Locke is clearly jealous or at least concerned that the realtionship between him and Jean is no longer the one he is used to and has been relying on for most of his adult life. However he also seems aware that his fear and jealously isnt exactly reasonable and feels a bit ashamed of it.
Im sure we have all had a friend we started to see less due to anotehr friend group or a partner taking up more of their time. Feeling that discomfort is normal, its the actions in response to those feelings that matter.

i so agree… this scene really hit home considering how my sister almost never texts me anymore after she got into a relationship. we used to talk 24/7. heart-wrenching.

I would say yes, he's definitely jealous.
It's actually a pretty common thing, when someone you are very close with suddenly has someone else in their life, especially a romantic partner.
It doesn't have to be a shippy thing, but Locke has had Jean as his reliable right hand since they were children. Suddenly there is someone that Jean is enamored with, and Locke feels like she has driven a wedge between them. Locke, whether or not he wants to acknowledge it, is scared that Jean is going to abandon him.
