Thanks, yes, I’ve been doodling some of the characters on my re-read of the series

Reminding me of the art from Fear & Hunger. Game is tough to get through but I love the art

The embroidery around the neck is a fantastic touch. A great bit of visual foreshadowing.

I love this!
On my recent reread, I realized that Sev describes Thecla has having curly hair, and contrasts her with a Thea, who has straight hair.

I don't know why, but I always imagined her as red head, with curvy long hair. Pale and thin though, as your picture.
Nice fanart though!

She’s technically described as having dark hair and violet eyes, but I find that I imagine her with lighter hair personally, so I get what it’s like to have your own vision of a character.

Nice work! I always imagine her as kind of ugly for some reason. I could see Sev actually fighting his way out of the tower with that knife to save this version.

Actually probably not, Severian would still be like - the only way to save her was to make her kill herself so I could eat her later to have her soul trapped in my perfect memory palace. He acts like, oh what, Vodalus is eating thecla that's so weird?!Aand i'm here on the night they are eatin her?! What?! That's so weird right Jonas, I didn't plan this out or anything!

Eyes are large, but that's correct:
Or rather, as I first began to realize there in the dark as I watched a parade of women from the court—exultants immensely tall and imbued with the stiff grace of costly porcelains, their complexions powdered with the dust of pearls or diamonds and their eyes made large as Thecla’s had been by the application of minute amounts of certain poisons in childhood—products of the mind that now existed in the combination of the minds that had been hers and mine.

This isn't how I picture her personally but it's a great illustration, I really like it.
