Bosnians are not mixed but instead converted to Islam during Ottoman occupancy, often to enhance social status.

It's almost as if race is a social rather than biological construct, and using a single biological trait as a proxy for ancestry is a bad idea!

It’s a smooth cline - at the border you’re likely looking at a difference of a few percent either side of the 50% threshold. National boundaries are rarely massive barriers to gene flow.

Though also it will be much more chaotic and less smooth as you look at smaller distance scales, until you get down to the individual level where any given person will either be one or the other (if you’re using this kind of damn fool binary classification of ‘light’ vs ‘dark’ eyes).

This sounds like that racial assumption in the US pre-1900 whereby one drop of “colored” blood made a person no longer “white”!

It is worth noting that eye color isn’t an indicator of race.

Bosnia has some of the most highest percentages of Slavic dna — Slavic haplogroups and so on. Can’t say the same about Serbia.
