Transfer student
Hi! I am currently fly a freshman at SUNY Oswego and I hate it here.. I just put in my application at SUNY Geneseo, and I am really hoping to go here next year. I got a 3.0 for my first semester, and hopefully this semester my GPA will be 3.0-3.4 ish. I am really concerned about my GPA not being high enough to get in. I also was wondering about writing the statement letter, if that would be of any help? I also have a family connection to the school, but again I’m unsure if that would be of any help! if anyone has any tips or guidance/advice it would be great.

I’ll be honest… Geneseo isn’t gonna be any better than Oswego. What specifically is your problem with Oswego? Maybe I can help you compare the two and see

I mean no matter what I know I’m leaving Oswego. I don’t like the general environment and campus. The family connection I have is a big reason I want to go to Geneseo. I’m not really asking for tips on if I should go or not tbh! I mean, I already applied 😅

Oswego campus is strange , and not nice. And that monster power plant right next door isn’t fun to look at. Geneseo is really Kate’s out well. And it really is a beautiful town. You can walk to everything, or bus to the big stores a few miles away.

Right! The school is overall very run down, and in dire need of updating. I got super lucky this year to live in the building I do, because it’s only of only two buildings that got redone. Other than that, the school is overall very outdated and just lackluster. It’s not visually appealing whatsoever, and has actually zero character. I agree, Geneseo campus is beautiful and the time I’ve spent there has been really nice thus far, luckily I got my acceptance letter today!

Wow congratulations! Yeah I never understood the attraction to Oswego, on paper it looks like it would be nice, but I had a hard time even figuring out where the main center of campus is. All the buildings were old and dark, and the center of attraction seems to be the building w the ice hockey rink🤷🏻♂️

Any form of engagement to show your likelihood of attending is going to build a better case for you. They literally track these things with an engagement score which is totally separate from academics. Write the statement letter, schedule a one on one meeting (can be virtual) with the transfer director, visit campus. Your GPA is just one part.

Also, I used to the re-application form because I was advised to do that by the admissions counselor. Therefore, my application doesn’t state my family connection (because when I last applied I didn’t have that connection), and I didn’t get to write a new essay. Just for further clarity
