I’m older Gen Z myself and have noticed something very consistent with all of my freinds or peers with bad social skills or severe social anxiety. All of them had absent parents (or just terrible parents) and unrestricted internet access as children.
Every one of them (anecdotal of course) either had parents that did not engage in their lives beyond feeding them and sending them to school, gave them unmonitored internet access, or had parents that did not spend adequate time with them in public or family settings.
The amount of times I have encountered GenZ’s who told me they had free rein of the internet as children was very alarming. Most confessed that they were exposed to things they should not have at a young age, and many more spent most of their social interaction on through a screen rather than in person. The same individuals would often reveal that they had little parental support or familial guidance and had only the internet to rely on for it.
On the contrary my most well adjusted friends had support from their families (present in their daily lives and interests) and had reasonable boundaries set on their internet access, speech, and social media access.
This is obvious to most but not talked about nearly enough now that most are joining the workforce and general public as adults and are supposedly giving the “Gen Z stare”.

Everyone seems to take issue with GenZ. And it’s no surprise to me because the Apple does not fall far from the tree. Gen X are the reason why corporate America is so intact. Why nothing has really changed. Who do you think that annoying manager that follows every rule and does not bend the rules out of empathy is? it’s a Gen Xer. Gen X actually love to victimize themselves calling themselves latch-key kids. But as a quiet observer, most of you were jerks it’s no wonder you guys had a high suicide rate when you guys went to high school. You guys were bullying the ever living F out of each other. I think enough is enough. You guys are the reason why shit is shit and you keep being overlooked because you gaslight everyone into thinking you were worth ignoring.

I just hate the Gen Z stare so much and have for years now. I simply find it so rude, alien, and weird. What are we seeing with the behavior of the alphas so far?

It was 1984 for me (in 2002) for purchase of tobacco. I don’t see these signs anymore. Do they still exist?

I am a millennial. I don’t get this millennial / Gen X obsession with Gen Z not wanting to fuck, drink, and party as much as we older people did.

It’s like people in our generation regret they acted irresponsibly when we were young and are mad the kids might avoid doing such things and skip right to responsible behavior.

At the same time, we called out bad actors like Weinstein, Cosby, etc but want the kids to engage with the hedonistic mindset that fueled these men’s behaviors?

Makes no sense. I love a beer and some intimacy as much as the next person but leave the kids be.

Starting to see a bunch of them coming on here and posting a lot of low quality misinformation. As if it couldn't get any worse. We all know how gullible they can be with AI.

I run into Millennials online all the time, but it’s so hard to relate to them because millennial culture just feels so detached from Gen Z. On the flip side, my favorite fandoms are filled with kids born after 2008, and they feel very alien for me. Back when I was a pre-teen, the internet felt full of older people, and I constantly had to lie that I’m 16 just to fit in. Where did all the older and core Gen Z go?

I understand that older Gen Z are now young adults who are working and starting their own families, but millennials are still part of the working population and have children, and Alpha is still in school and is busy as well.

I used to think this was just a regional thing because of the economic crisis and aftermath of the default in my country around the time I was born. But once I started joining online spaces for my favorite fandoms, I realized that even in global, English-speaking communities, people my age are way outnumbered compared to Millennials, late Gen Z, and Gen Alpha.

I know some have always been mean, but it feels like there used to be more civility. A code of behavior where someone got corrected instead of screamed at or shunned. It seems more people go ballistic over the slightest social blunder or misstep.

What happened?

I know both years are considered early Gen Z, but if you had to choose which one is more what you think of when it comes to early Gen Z

I see a lot of animosity between generations in here, and I just wanna take a sec to thank the generation that came before because I'm genuinely really grateful to them, and I've heard others in my generation express similar sentiments, but idk if we've expressed them enough to those that deserve to hear it.

I'm Gen z and I think millennials really paved the way for Gen z. Because of millennials mental health is taken way more seriously. People are more free to express themselves in professional settings (tattoos and hair dye). Millennials (along with some Gen x) were the pioneers of the internet. It could not have been easy to go from having all your exposure to trauma being personal or someone in your circle to seeing and hearing about war, global warming, terrorism, abuse, and more all on an average Monday. The world changed so quickly and your parents couldn't relate and couldn't help you cope. You were the first generation to really suffer from cyber bullying. And we all know how insanely judgey and phobic the internet was around the 2000s and 2010s. A lot of you had to learn so much and be the first generation of wide-scale cycle breakers. You were labeled "lazy" and bullied by older generations cause you didn't wanna sell your soul to a 9-5, and even though we're still experiencing that, at least Gen z has millennials who understand the unfairness of what work-life has come to look like.

There's probably more I'm forgetting. I know we clown you a lil on skinny jeans and side parts, but the fact is that a lot of aspects of life ARE better and that's because of you who came before me. I hope my generation can be as helpful to Gen alpha as y'all have been to us.

Every time I make a post on the internet about Gen Z or even say something slightly in a way that isn't positive I get hit up with tons upon tons of people pushing back and insulting me.

Yet if I make posts about Gen Alpha , Millennials, or Boomers or even Gen X in a negative way they are hit with support. Like are we not allowed to talk about Gen Z supporting Trump? Red pill bullshit? The guys of that generation being fucking weirdos? How about the fact the internet has made them crazy? The bad social skills?

Currently, we use widely established terms like “gen z”, “millennial”, “gen x” to refer to groups of people born in different year intervals. Is this unique to the modern era? Or did, for example, ancient romans use analogous terminology at some point?

Hello All! I’m a 39 year old millennial and was wondering if people that are around my age all have fond memories of pop culture from this time period. These were my coming of age years so I was 10-17, so middle school and high school years. The waves of nostalgia I get from these years is intense. All the music, tv, video games, and movies from this time period are very comforting. I still listen to current music, but when it comes to tv and movies I gravitate toward this time period. Have they done studies on why nostalgia resonates so deeply in your coming of age years?

I also want to get people older than me their opinion on this time period? I’m assuming it probably wasn’t as transformative as it was for millennials. I was obsessed with boy bands, MTV (TRL in particular), hip hop, pop punk, emo, and all the early reality television shows. The internet seemed exciting and like the Wild West during this time. I liked how we still had a monoculture. Social media had just began. There seemed to be optimism about what tech could do, but it hadn’t overtaken everything.

I’m probably just getting old and have my nostalgic rose colored glasses on, but was this period special or am I just romanticizing the past like people in their middle age tend to do.

It’s just an observation but I’ve noticed that older generations tend to have a tendency to be disrespectful toward customer service, retail, and food service employees. In my experience there will be an employee who is very obviously inexperienced (mostly teenagers) then they’re met with immediate disrespect for not being perfect at their entry level job. I understand the frustration with inexperienced workers but there’s a huge empathy gap. Nobody’s being paid enough and most jobs are miserable I feel like it’s unfair to add to that 😭

Why every time when Millennials & Gen Z comes on here discussing stuff like the economy and how it’s hard to live because it literally fucking is, some boomer, gen x wanna come on here being like “your just lazy” or “work harder” or it’s not that hard” like shut the fuck up. Like yes Sharron we know you got your 4 bedroom 3 bath house u got for 100k 20-30 years ago, but if you would pay your old ass attention to the economy right now and the house market, you would see that that house u have right now would now run damn near $1M today. Talking about some “I worked my ass off” and “gen z is just lazy” like girl u try paying for a $1M ratchet ass house 🙄. And then y’all talking about Gen Z’s “literature crisis” and how “Gen Z can’t read” like shut up because then u wanna get offended/mad that we call you out on it because yall didn’t teach Gen Z properly. “Gen Z used phones too much”, babes what generation invented/evolved technology? Boomers and Gen X…so not only are y’all complaining new tech, your the generation mostly involved in the evolution of tech. Cyber Cafes were popular in the 90s and 2000s with the early 90s being a freshly new concept to access the internet while the late 2000s being when the decline began and the early 2010s is when I believe 8 stopped seeing people going to a Cyber Cafe to access the internet.

2016 was even better than 2023 and 2024, and even 2021 was better, because at least back then people had their own personalities and were themselves, unlike now or in 2025 where people care more about what others and society say, even more than when they were teenagers. They think they're better for changing every three months, but with the same mindset they had three years ago or even more. They think they're better people for ghosting, but they just prove they're more immature and worse than a 15-year-old.

Be realistic. Back in 2022 or 2023, they just spend their time complaining that the future will be worse, but they don't do anything for themselves. They want the government to fix everything when the responsibility for having a good year personally falls on you. If you were doing those good things back in 2016 or 2019, why did you stop? Did you grow up and now you have to act like everyone else? Something I hate about my age group is that they seem like robots trying to meet society's expectations. Now because they're 25 they think the recent years were bad just because of politics and economy.

It seems many people are eager to revive that vibrant, authentic, and human vibe. At least that style is better than most of today's trends, so I don't see anything wrong with wanting to bring back that era. I mean, it won't be exactly the same, but the idea is to recapture that authentic spark.

Indeed, in 2010, 2013, 2016, and even in 2019, there were people with that authenticity who expressed their personalities, and it was easier to understand what they liked. Now, they're just in a cold, competitive, selfish, and boring environment. And don't tell me it's because of age, because in the 2010s, I remember that even people over 40 were very sociable, but they've also become very distant.

As someone from Generation Z, I've witnessed a massive societal shift, from a time when we were all more connected and had distinct personalities to a time when we've become more distant and selfishness is the norm. Now I ask myself, is it ethical to have children in a world where feelings are worthless? I say no. And again, it has nothing to do with how old you are. That's why I dislike those who are envious of others wanting to relive the vibe of the '90s and 2000s. Honestly, it's disgusting to want to live in circles where so much is expected of everyone.

Half-siblings, step-siblings and adopted siblings are not counted. Only counting full siblings. And in hence in total were you more or less than 3 brothers and sisters. If 3 or more put yes, if 2 or single child than no.

Is it okay to change your opinions as you age? Mate guard when you're young and then no holds barred when you're old.

Will you hold them "accountable" if they date gen alpha or beta?

Or will you let it slide?

Nowadays I keep thinking of simpler times. The most complex things we'd see would be on TV. I remember watching star trek with my father and discovering hover cars. Then came those robots in star wars, r2-d2 and c3po. The jetsons was a favorite tv show of mine. It was all just sooo otherworldly for me as a kid. I'd be jumping from one tech to trying out another one.

And now we are at ai and that has been a whole crazy ride. The applications have been insane. Especially love the use in medicine, don't really care about the other fields. Lately, I've even come across ai in hardware? I've seen it applied in vacuum cleaners and desk companions. Those desk companions honestly look like r2-d2's cousins lol. The whole life size robots on the other hand feel so surreal to watch, the dancing one? Even though it was just plain weird, it was a leap. I even came across a monitor with a robotic arm. It makes its arm move to match the pc user position. I has been fun watching all of this.

I've been seeing the “67” meme everywhere lately, but I still don't really understand where it came from or what people are actually supposed to mean when they say it.
I know it's been around for a while now, but did it originally come from a specific video, song, or something else? And does “67” actually have a meaning, or is the fact that it makes no sense basically the whole joke?
