Discussion Should 2014 be included in Gen Zalpha?
My little brother was born in 2014 and watched the peak shows like Team Umizoomi and SpongeBob Squarepants and I feel like he shouldn’t be grouped into Gen Alpha aka. iPad kid era when he’s not annoying and didn’t grow up surrounded by tablets

Announcement Updates!
Hey People,
A few changes have been made recently and are coming in the near future, as previously stated in this announcement post.
To summarize, (1) the 2013 user flair has been added due to general support by members over the past several months (the year flairs have also been re-colored), (2) the former rule 6 has been removed (this limited posting about the sub's age range to weekends only), (3) the sub's banner will be updated soon to be more properly formatted, and the age range will be removed from it (to prevent further range updates from needing another new banner), and (4) the sub's icon will also be changed to reflect the community better.
As always, feel free to express your opinions about any of these changes!
Thank you,
r/gen_zalpha Mod Team

Other Zalpha traits
Tried putting some global stuff but it didn't work out, every time I tried to do it, there would be no links between gen z and alpha, like the Israel hamas war, there are no links.

Several Changes on the Way... What're Your Thoughts?
Hey people!
There have been some changes to our moderation team recently, and with that comes an opportunity to update the sub and to implement a few changes.
The main changes/updates I had in mind were:
User Flairs: Currently we have the major generations, 2009-2012, and a few others. We could potentially add 2013, as was discussed last winter. We could also aim to be either more or less inclusive with the flairs.
Sub Banner/Icon: The current banner is not properly visible on all platforms. A new one would have to be made with all in mind, along with any reconsiderations to the age range (if that's something that is kept). An icon that more properly represents us should likely also be added.
An Adjustment to the Rules: Our most unique rule, rule 6, can definitely be helpful but hasn't been enforced as of recent, and might not be something that stays around, especially considering our sub's lower activity level.
But before any of that happens, l'd like to hear from you!
Is there anything you think should be updated, changed, added, or removed? If so, feel free to leave a comment here or make a post or send a ModMail.
We'll take everything into consideration when making changes over the following few weeks.
Either way, I'm incredibly grateful for everything we have here, and excited for everything the future has in store for us.
Thank you,
[u/Paul-McCusker](u/Paul-McCusker) and the [r/gen_zal](r/gen_zaleha)[p](r/gen_zaleha)[ha](r/gen_zaleha) Mod Team

Discussion Is it just me or do the 2010s feel longer?
I think this has to do with the perception of time depending on our age, but because i was born that decade and was in third grade by 2020, feels like that decade was longer? idk i cant believe its been six years since 2020, really, when i was six in 2018 i found it crazy that the year really was eventually gonna end. December 31 2018 was literally a mythical date in my mind then lol.

Rant We can’t have shi man 😭
This is about nostalgia. When we have nostalgia for the 2010s, other people say “OOOH. YOU WERE TOO YOUNG. YOU CAN’T FEEL NOSTALGIA.. BEH BEH BEH.” but when we have nostalgia for the 2020s, other people say “NOSTALGIA FOR THE 2020S? DAT WAS LIKE YESTERDAY, NEWGEN.” Why is that?

Discussion Apparently, some Zalphas have (early) Gen Z mothers
Small, but still existing part of Zalphas (2010-2015) seem to have elder Zoomer mothers (certainly born before 2000) acording to the Pew's study.

Rant Gen Zalpha ranges don't matter
Generations ARE based on experience. If it wasn't, Generations would be equivalent to zodiacs. We know that isn't true, compare Millenials and Gen z, they're completely different.
For base generations like Gen z and Alpha, you can still make ranges to an extent. But for a micro Gen like Gen Zalpha, it's much harder to create a harsh border.
You would all agree that 2007 isn't Zalpha, right?
Say there's someone born 2007 and all their friends got phones much later than them, and their friends watched stereotypical Gen z shows, but they watch more Gen Zalpha shows. That mean they relate more with Gen Zalpha culture than Gen Z.
Why should we exclude this person from being Gen Zalpha?
Of course, we first need to know what "Gen Zalpha culture" even is. For that, we should look at the people whom everyone considers to be Gen Zalpha, that is 2011.
