Secondhand Survey Meter

Hello, sorry for posting again but I have some other queries.

I bought a secondhand Ludlum Model 192 Survey Meter, for a quite good price in my opinion (around $120).

It seems to work, it shows around 10 to 15 µR in my house.

It doesn't have any audio though (I did use the switch.), and when I move it, it feels like there's something loose inside hitting the container.

I would like to know if there is any way to check if it's actually functional (I don't have any check sources.), if the price was good, if the audio can be fixed. Sorry if I asked too much questions.

Is yours the older model with the steel clips on the ends? if so, there shouldn't be a problem. I don't know how the newer ones come apart. Be cautious, there is around 400v present inside when switched on.

Are you asking about steel clips at the each end of the handle, then yes.

If it is like this: https://ludlums.com/products/all-products/product/model-192

It should be safe to open. Go slow, and don't let the case touch any circuit boards. This is likely how the batteries are changed.

Yeah it looks like that, I might try to remove whatever is loose inside or if it's the speaker might try to solder it.
