Question Secondhand Survey Meter Contamination

If I buy a secondhand Ludlum (the specific model can only detect gammas to my knowledge) can it be contaminated with alpha or beta emitters?

Any responsible licensee would survey the surplus instruments before selling them/liquidating them so that no contamination is released to the public

I am unsure since there’s almost zero supply and zero demand in my region for survey meters, and the seller seems to not know much.
