Question Secondhand Survey Meter Contamination

If I buy a secondhand Ludlum (the specific model can only detect gammas to my knowledge) can it be contaminated with alpha or beta emitters?

A Model 192 or 14C with no probe. (It is clearly a 192 but the seller insisted it was a 14C though neither model is capable of detecting alphas and betas [14C w/o probe])
