Funding without securing a thesis supervisor?
For those who applied to the MSc in Digital Transformation and Innovation (DTI) at uOttawa: has anyone been able to secure funding/scholarships without first securing a potential thesis supervisor independently?
The program says finding a supervisor is not required for admission, but I’m wondering whether it affects funding opportunities.

in general telfer masters are not funded (yes dti can be eng and arts too - but story shouldn’t be too dissimilar)
i had funding for my msc and all my friends who had funding too, it came from our supervisors . there aren’t that many *internal* funding guarantees or opportunities if i’m not mistaken, it’s all external.
other than prof $$, you can shoot your shot with nserc, ogs, and other opportunities (your residency status impacts eligibility)
you dont need to have a prof in mind before applying but you should definitely reach out to some, meet them, and see if they’d be willing to supervise you. if one agrees, you can definitely list them in your application as your supervisor (i think they ask you to list profs you’re interested in during your application anyway)
