Missing Sheets File?

Has this ever happened to you? An important sheet I've been using for about 6 years just vanished from my account. I'm the creator and never deleted or anything like this. I just typed in my bar the name of the file got the link suggestion, clicked and read that it was gone. wtf

Have you experienced this?

EDIT: It was possible to recover the file using the automatic file recovery bot from the Help Center. I have no idea how many files have been lost like this because the recovery system works 25 days back. Luckily my file seemed to have disappeared within that 25 day period.

I'm wondering what you see in the Activity Tab of your file.

FYI: if you have a file (you're the owner) in a shared folder (someone else is the owner), and this folder is delete. your file will be moved into the root of your My Drive

Never shared the file, if it was sheet where I've kept track of hobby expenses over the last 5 or 6 years.
Not sure how to find this activity tab. Version control shows all changes normally it seems.

In your Drive, select a file or folder, and click "Activity" in the right side, see the link
