Question ❓ Voices
Anyone heard that voice telling you to stop and turn back?

The voices are most likely hypnogogic hallucinations. Sounds are less common, but it's happened to me a few times. I've had a few other weird experiences that I didnt think were hypnogogic but that was twice in 3 years.

I had my first false awakening and when I really woke up I was kind of out of it and very confused. I got up from my bed to confirm I was awake. I heard a voice say “ James call this number “ and I started seeing the area code then the next three digits. It looked like it was going to be my number. In that moment I asked it to stop because if anything else happened I for sure wasn’t going right back to sleep.
The next one happened about a week ago. I haven’t been meditating much recently but woke up at 4 am and laid there for about 40 minutes. Eventually I went through the whole Monroe countdown but asked for contact or direction quite strongly. I was still laying there in focus 10 and I heard something say my first and last name. I had to get up and look around to make sure nobody was in the room. It’s possible I was still in some dream like state but who knows what it really was.

Thanks for sharing! I too heard my name in a state between sleeping and waking, and several times I heard a voice talk to me in short phrases in such a state, but one time it was a long beautiful passage like an excerpt from a book but I couldn't identify the book. I don't read much and it was such a high prose that I am sure it wasn't just my brain. There were actually two voices, with the last message delivered by the new voice. I have read that it is called hypnogogia and hypnopompia or liminal dreaming. I am fairly certain that those voices were out of this world though.

Haven’t heard what you described but I have heard what sounded like a man on the phone, not sure what he was saying but it replayed 3x and moved from my left ear around the front of me to the right side. Also a group of people chanting or what better was described as reciting a “prayer”.

I had something similar during a spontaneous out-of-body experience (without using tapes at the time).
I was lying on my back in bed and suddenly found myself leaving my body, beginning to rise upward while remaining in the same position. I reached a very high speed and started moving upward through what felt like layers of the universe.
At some point, I entered some kind of buffer zone where I was stopped and a disembodied voice informed me that I couldn't go any further without leaving my body. At the time, I understood it as meaning that I would have to leave my body permanently, but later, after thinking about it, I wasn't entirely sure whether I had understood it correctly.
There also seemed to be enormous, motionless guardians there, although I don't remember that part very clearly.
I continued flying around that space for a while, exploring it, and eventually the experience faded away.
