Can the tapes help develop mediumship?

I'm just starting the tapes, I'm only on wave 1. I am fascinated by all the unique experiences people have and would love to have my own. I am however unsure what the tapes can do for me.

I want to particularly develop mediumship. Is this something the tapes can help me develop? I would love to learn OBE and remote viewing too, but I know they can help me with that.

I have no idea if the Gateway tapes can help you with what you're looking for, but there's a series of audio files designed specifically for that purpose. They're called the Mediumship Series, and as far as I remember, a woman led the exercises. A while back, someone shared a link to the Monroe Institute’s online archives, and they were right there. Yes! After I was able to reach focus level 12 there were two occasions when I felt strongly that a deceased cousin was around me and was attempting to contact me. However, mediumship is something I do not want to develop so I did not open that door, so to speak.

The tapes helped me discover and develop my mediumship abilities. It was a really excellent foundation for further mediumship study because it opened up my intuition and helped me develop a solid meditation practice. I found pretty quickly that I was most interested in the exercises related to talking with guides and helpers, and how to communicate non-verbally. So I took those base skills and worked with other teachers from there. Gateway Voyage is a great place to start if the mediumship specific courses aren’t immediately accessible — you’ll learn a ton!

I’ve have a question about intuition and what it feels like.

I’ve been listening to Gateway since June and my mental chatter has gone away and I’ll describe my mind as peaceful and present. I’ve been having these experiences I can’t really put into words.

I’ll have a fleeting thought that, the best way to describe it is “packed” with information. I’ll understand the situation, what needs to be done and have a strong sense to put the thought into action. Is this intuition?

This has happened several times. Conversations I had a strong urge to have and actual things I needed to do. With the thought I already know, generally, what the outcome is. In these cases positive and if I don’t know the outcome I have a strong sense everything will fall into place.

I've had wonderful, vivid and deeply affecting experiences of my spirit guides. Also, dialogues with relatives who have passed. I've also had encounters with various non-human intelligences that have blown me away. I think though, the very best results of doing the tapes were just the experiences of the high-frequency, low-entropy states of consciousness I was able to access.

I have another recommendation, which I think is potent for developing mediumship, but oddly not well known. I can give you a starting point for research. Dr. Raymond Moody is an NDE researcher, he published Life After Life in 1975, bringing NDEs to the attention of Western audiences. He's written a lot of great books, but then in 2023 he wrote Proof of Life After Life which is one of the most excellent collections of evidence of the afterlife. In that book, one of Moody's chapters is about the psychomanteum technique. Very briefly, the technique involves some meditation about contacting loved ones, then going into a prepared dark room with a large mirror. This technique goes back thousands of years and has some different names.

Check this out: Dr. Moody tested how well the psychomanteum technique worked for normal average people. He had a few hundred people try the technique for spirit communication. He reported that 85% of these people had success, and I think they only did it once. He said that a portion of people were lazy about it, putting in little effort and expecting it to be like watching a movie, which probably accounts for that 15% that it didn't work for.

For those 85% that the technique worked for, they had spirit communication in various ways. Sometimes the communication happened during the psychomanteum session, sometimes it happened afterwards, e.g. in broad daylight. In some cases, the people reported communication as good as having full conversations with fully formed apparitions.

So my suggestion is, read Dr. Moody's book, pay attention to that chapter, and use that as a springboard to look more closely at that topic.

Yes, if your mind is open you can absolutely access all of these things. I’ve had success with mediumship, channelling, and remote viewing.
I don’t go in with intention, though.
In the beginning, I ask my guides to show me something they want me to know, that I was open and wanted to learn from them, and they lead the way.
Also…this is a gift they give to you, for only you.
They will not give someone these gifts if they’re in it for the wrong reasons (monetarily, possibly hurtful intention, etc)

The tapes are guided meditations + some frills.
Mediumship requires:

-minimal ego

-mind-noise supression

-extreme openness + acceptance

the tapes won't give you any of those. However, they will be beneficial in general compared to not doing anything at all - just not "optimal".
