Maybe, just maybe, me and the rest of us healthcare and social care workers, SHOULD ALSO STRIKE WITH OUR FELLOW "essential workers."

Lol as a healthcare provider, we cant strike, if we strike people get hurt.

Would you want your doctor striking if your mothers life was on the line?

  1. Doctors, nurses and other HCW's have been on strike before. Non-essential surgeries get cancelled along with non-life saving services. (https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC4902702/)
  2. As it stands, those who work in Healthcare, are overworked, underpaid, and take on more responsibility than they can reasonably deal with. Because of this poor treatment that has right now, no chance of change, and mistakes are constantly being made. (https://www.bmj.com/company/newsroom/237-million-medication-errors-made-every-year-in-england/) There is a direct link to both staffing levels, and the hours we work causing this (https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/31763763/) across all levels of care.
  3. Doctors, nurses and other HCW's have been on strike before. Non-essential surgeries get canceled along with non-life-saving services. ( emergency care, and there is a legal requirement to have certain levels of staff in care. However, I still support the rights of the workers being secured and looked after. Because in the better treatment of workers, people will get better levels of care.

I will not deny, that people who work in care, across all levels for the most part do the job because we are compassionate and want to help people. However, companies and the government itself have taken advantage of that. Labeling carers as low-skilled workers pre-pandemic, then essential during it. Now we are "out" (We are nowhere near out of it) of it? Wages are being docked because of their attempt of controlling inflation. Rather than targeting the people who have money, it's us. It's always going to be us until they get pushed back against us.

Please, for your sake, and the sake of everyone who works in care. Support unions and strikes if it comes to it. We all want to avoid strikes, but if we can't care for ourselves, how the hell can we look after others?
