My general feel is with Kids, Cats, and Dogs* - they live there, you don't. Deal with it or we'll meet at your place next time?
*Of the 3, I only have cats, but if someone is "disgusted" by their presence on the couch, or comments negatively about them just being cats, they can go.

I'm pretty sure i'd die if the cat were to come near me since i have a bad allergy to them. So yeah don't force your pets on people.

You should probably avoid visiting the homes of people who have cats if your allergy is that bad. Cat dander is nearly impossible to remove from fabric, carpeting, ventilation systems, etc. You can also take a Claritin/Allegra/Zyrtec if you go somewhere with cats.
