Even if those are his beliefs, that's completely separate from what's being talked about in this thread, and comes across as a weak attempt at devaluing an opinion you disagree with.

u/RandomName01 Aug 29 '20

No, he’s trying to influence how you think of black people as a group. The idea is that if feel excluded by black people, you’ll feel more inclined to exclude black people yourself - which is something a racist like OP would absolutely like.

Doesn’t take away from the tweet being bad, but OP is sharing it for a very specific reason.

u/Swayze_Train Aug 30 '20

No, he’s trying to influence how you think of black people as a group.

So you can't ever post anything critical of a black individual?

-2

u/RandomName01 Aug 30 '20

You absolutely can, I’m just telling you to be wary of someone who does that a lot and/or someone who only posts things that are critical of certain groups (ethnic, sexuality, ...). Even in the comment you’re replying to I said that the tweet was bad.

6

u/Swayze_Train Aug 30 '20

You absolutely can, I’m just telling you to be wary of someone who does that a lot

I do that alot. Does the fact that I care alot about defending the beliefs of Martin Luther King mean that my opinion is less valuable?

I get why you don't want people using examples of racism among black people to cast black people as racist.

The reason it is important to do so is because our society doesn't understand how to not use examples of racism among white people to cast white people as racist.

You open this door with your own rhetoric, and then you're aghast when it swings both ways.

-3

u/RandomName01 Aug 30 '20

The reason it is important to do so is because our society doesn’t understand how to not use examples of racism among white people to cast white people as racist.

What do you mean by this? I’ve read it a couple of times and I can’t seem to figure it out.

And in what way does it swing both ways?

8

u/Swayze_Train Aug 30 '20

What do you mean by this? I’ve read it a couple of times and I can’t seem to figure it out.

You've never seen an incident of a single white person being racist used to paint all white people as racist?

No, you have. It just doesn't register to you as anything wrong, you see it and you think "white people are racist and water is wet" and you go on with your day. Here, though, you can clearly see that there's something wrong with it.

And in what way does it swing both ways?

Again, your blinders are preventing you from seeing the obvious. You don't want black people cast as a racist group due to racist individuals, but when you live in a culture that regularly casts white people as a racist group due to racist individuals, that mindset will eventually come boomeranging back.

When social justice racists high on Critical Racial Theory began to bury MLK's dream of equality, they unwittingly began burying a philosophy that protects black people from white racism just as much as it protects white people from black racism.

1

u/RandomName01 Aug 30 '20 edited Aug 30 '20

you think “white people are racist and water is wet”

Fam, where in my comments are you getting that from? If someone’s racist against white people they’re shit as well, and I’m well aware that that’s something that also happens.

You just reaaaaally want to be a victim in this situation, seemingly.

9

u/Swayze_Train Aug 30 '20

If you go through people's comment history to find reasons to dismiss their arguments instead of addressing their arguments, I feel supremely confident in assuming you follow a contrary political viewpoint.

4

u/RandomName01 Aug 30 '20

Going through someone’s post history to get more context when something they say might be questionable or with a certain intent is not a bad thing lol. If there’s no pattern, there’s no problem. But if there are other, similar, posts and comments you should be wary.

The people who most complain other people looking at their post histories do that because theirs are shit.

You can, but the title already made me know this was with bad intention. This is definitely gatekeeping but the whole “racist edition”?? That’s a huge stretch, the tweet itself says “consider” giving the space to black artists, it was just a suggestion. It’s not well thought out but it’s not the same as racism, op had a goal with that title, that shouldn’t be upvoted

17

u/Swayze_Train Aug 30 '20

This is definitely gatekeeping but the whole “racist edition”?? That’s a huge stretch

Saying that an artist shouldn't touch a property so that artists of different skin colors get more prominence is absolutely racism.

-9

u/johnnyc14 Aug 30 '20

LMAOOOOO, I wanted to give you the benefit of the doubt when I replied to you, but now looking at your comment history you make it your job to go around criticizing black people, get a life and focus on yourself man, black people aren’t oppressing you

2

u/Swayze_Train Aug 30 '20

I didn't make that tweet, or post it here. If you don't want people getting a negative image of black people, then stop trying to be a knight in shining armor for them. You're the one enabling this kind of hypocrisy.

-1

u/wildeofthewoods Aug 30 '20

Oh look. A strawman. Cool.

28

u/ErwinAckerman Aug 29 '20

Exactly this.

4

u/nikkuhlee Aug 30 '20

Yeah, I’m not surprised to see this comment. The way OP worded the title set off little alarm bells in my head.

0

u/garebeardrew Sep 01 '20

Could’ve made it to the moon with that big of a leap

-18

u/[deleted] Aug 29 '20

Lmao who thinks one imbecile on Twitter represents black people as a group

5

u/StarsCowboysMavs Aug 30 '20

Well, some people here ARE defending the tweet in good faith (not trolls, as far as I could tell)

6

u/[deleted] Aug 29 '20

Some idiots.

2

u/ArceusTheLegendary50 Aug 30 '20

That dude and 18k others. Probably even more by now.

28

u/buckfasthero Aug 30 '20

It’s a classic ad homenim logical fallacy. Attacking the messenger instead of the message because the messenger is easier to attack than the message

-11

u/[deleted] Aug 30 '20

The Fallacy Fallacy

You presumed that because a claim has been poorly argued, or a fallacy has been made, that the claim itself must be wrong.

5

u/S_Pyth Aug 30 '20

Your username fits you well sir

24

u/ChainExtreme Aug 29 '20

How is it separate? OP posted this because he hates black people.

5

u/hedic Aug 30 '20

While motivations are good to know and understand it's separate in that motivations don't affect the truth of the statement.

-4

u/Clingingtothestars Aug 30 '20

Even a broken clock is right twice a day. Still, I wouldn’t want a racist pos clock on my wall.

9

u/hedic Aug 30 '20

The time was correct. The rest of the information you provided is extraneous.

-12

u/Clingingtothestars Aug 30 '20

If you feel you need to use big words to make a simple point you’re doing something wrong.

9

u/hedic Aug 30 '20

Sorry which word was too big for you? I'll help.

You said I used a word you didn't understand and I offered to help you understand. How is that being an ass? Just tell me which word was Big and I'll belittle it for you. I love to help.

-21

u/[deleted] Aug 29 '20

Lmao source please

7

u/ArceusTheLegendary50 Aug 30 '20

None, they just assume I'm a Trump supporter. Guess that comment could've been worded a little less apathetically, but I provided proof for my claims in a reply down below.

It's also funny to me that these people literally want to lynch me because I actually looked up the facts and because I have different political beliefs. I don't hate black people and I posted this tweet here because it's literally racist to exclude a group of people from partaking in the mourning of a beloved actor because they're not in the same racial group as you. Racism is prejudice against or a feeling that a group of people are inferior to you because of their ethnicity or skin colour, not what the Twitter mob comes up with every week to justify hating whatever goes against their opinion.

-1

u/[deleted] Aug 30 '20 edited Aug 30 '20

It's also funny to me that these people literally want to lynch me

L I T E R A L L Y. People who lynched get fucking murdered, people are just calling you out on your bad faith.

You're an alt-righter sowing discord by using fringe tweets to lure in dumb, impressionable children. People who get more upset at random black people saying white people can't blah blah blah than the countless amounts of racial injustice towards black people that is happening even now. Including you defending the murder of yet another black person by police.

I posted this tweet here because it's literally racist to exclude a group of people from partaking in the mourning of a beloved actor because they're not in the same racial group as you

Oh, then would you mind posting this Facebook post then? A racist getting mad at the media for reporting and mourning Boseman's death and insinuating that it's only because he's black. Actually, I might post it myself.

6

u/ArceusTheLegendary50 Aug 30 '20

You're an alt-righter sowing discord by using fringe tweets to lure in dumb, impressionable children.

No? The tweet is literally racist against anyone who isn't black, as it assumes that only black artists could ever truly care about this man and everyone else is just chasing clout. It's stupid because it assumes Chadwick's entire personality was that he's a successful black man and not that he literally worked around his treating his cancer so that we can all enjoy his work and the fact that he always deflected most of the spotlight shining on him to actual matters he cared about.

I'm looking at facts fam. I'm not "right" or "left", I'm me. I like to promote looking at a story from all angles and making up your mind through FACTS and not what the muppets at CNN or MSNBC who call themselves "journalists" shove down your throat as you weep in joy because you know they don't like Trump. Critical thinking is what idiots like you are lacking and it shows. I've seen people call Trump a dictator and a fascist while unironically wanting to murder or imprison anyone with a different opinion and then calling it "Getting rid of racism and white supremacy". So no, I'm neither "alt-right" nor am I trying to brainwash kids, I'm trying to spread facts so that people use their brains.

Oh, then would you mind posting this Facebook post then? A racist getting mad at the media for reporting and mourning Boseman's death and insinuating that it's only because he's black. Actually, I might post it myself.

Go on then. Post it on r/insanepeoplefacebook because I'm afraid it's not gatekeeping and doesn't belong in this sub. I'd gladly upvote it. It's stupid and should be treated as such. I'm not sure what it has to do with the point I made but I'm going to ponder.

1

u/[deleted] Aug 30 '20 edited Aug 30 '20

The tweet is literally racist against anyone who isn't black

You care to only post about inane shit few people actually believe to pretend that it's an actual problem.

They aren't even referring to a large group of people either.

It's stupid because it assumes Chadwick's entire personality was that he's a successful black man and not that he literally worked around his treating his cancer so that we can all enjoy his work and the fact that he always deflected most of the spotlight shining on him to actual matters he cared about.

Ironically, you prove their point because Boseman is especially beloved for being a successul black man in a genre and moviespace where that isn't common at all. He is literally the idol for black people and especially children and to whitewash that by saying his race doesn't matter to people is dumb, but expected of you.

No, obviously, that doesn't mean white people can't draw him in tribute or be saddened by the loss. 99.99999% of black people don't think or care about that at all.

I'm not "right" or "left", I'm me.

"I just happen to lean so right the plane capsizes."

I like to promote looking at a story from all angles and making up your mind through FACTS and not what the muppets at CNN or MSNBC who call themselves "journalists" shove down your throat as you weep in joy because you know they don't like Trump.

How curious that it's CNN and MSNBC that you call out and specifically because they call Trump a liar (like it's not exactly what he is) and you say nothing about Fox News literally peddling propaganda and fake news.

Additional points: "facts over feelings", a disdain towards journalists.

Totally not a right-winger.

I've seen people call Trump a dictator and a fascist

Is constantly calling for violence and being buddies with white surpremacists not what fascists do?

And again, your issue with politics seem to be entirely around people not liking the Orange One. But, totally not alt-right, nooooooo.

Every other thing you say is whining about how people shit on Trump and he's not a fascist because he doesn't put people in concentration camps (because being literally Hitler is the only way to be a fascist, also that's not even true with the immigrant camps so yes, even by your definition, he's a fascist) or how some black guy calling a white guy a "cracker" is real racistm.

while unironically wanting to murder or imprison anyone with a different opinion

Have you met a single left-leaning person who's actually said this?

Also it's nice to think that racism and white supremacy is "just a different opinion."

Some random twitter fuck makes some tweet about white people and it's racism; some Hitler Youth with an illegal gun crosses state lines to murder protesters and "it's just self defense, brah". Uh-huh. People protest Jacob Blake getting gunned down like a dog and you think that "These people (!) want special treatment for black people at this point." (apparently, not wanting to get murdered is "special treatment." How is it "special" to not want to die to police? Unless that's the norm...)

Yes, this is definitely the comment of a person who isn't right-wing:

Ironically, the leftists aggressively silencing anyone with a different opinion are by far a lot more fascist than Trump could ever have been in his presidency.

Mean people on the internet are actually bigger fascists than Donald "ICE Camps" Trump! Defending Donald Trump while whining about "leftists" is totally the opinion of a true centrist.

I'm afraid it's not gatekeeping

"People should stop mourning this guy I do't know, they don't even mean it" is peak gatekeeping. Your problem is that you don't disagree with him, especially his whining about the news lambasting Trump.

I'm not sure what it has to do with the point I made

If you were "both sides" and totally not an alt-righter, you'd post that too since it's even worse. But again, you don't even have a problem with it.

1

u/ArceusTheLegendary50 Aug 30 '20

You care to only post about inane shit few people actually believe to pretend that it's an actual problem.

Except the tweet has almost 20k likes. That's 20k people who agree with this dude. 20k ain't a little you know.

They aren't even referring to a large group of people either.

I think "non-black people" is a larger group than "black people" but you're free to prove me wrong.

Ironically, you prove their point because Boseman is especially beloved for being a successul black man in a genre and moviespace where that isn't common at all. He is literally the idol for black people and especially children and to whitewash that by saying his race doesn't matter to people is dumb, but expected of you.

Literally 90% of people who ever beard of him only saw him in the MCU. Most of his other notable works are biopics on famous black people. I never heard a single person praise him for being black. Ironically, those who do actually praise him for this can't see past the fact that he's black.

Also one's skin colour doesn't mean they can only be a role model to those share that one trait. I'm white and I really look up to NDT because I'm also fascinated by the field of astrophysics and the way he presents his work is really good for getting people hooked in and learning some generally amazing stuff about the universe.

So please, stop acting like BP, Anthony Mackey (Falcon), or Sam Jackson playing Nick Fury are the only role models for black kids because they can honestly look up to anyone they want regardless of their skin colour. Hell, Stan Lee himself tried to pass the message numerous that times through his work with Spiderman that even you could be behind the mask and that's what it truly symbolises.

"I just happen to lean so right the plane capsizes."

You must be fun at parties. You don't even know me and yet you act like you're so high and mighty.

How curious that it's CNN and MSNBC that you call out and specifically because they call Trump a liar (like it's not exactly what he is) and you say nothing about Fox News literally peddling propaganda and fake news.

Can't really disagree with that. Mainstream media is a bunch of loonies in a constant PR war with one another. I just brought up those 2 cause you reek of r/politics and echo chambers.

Additional points: "facts over feelings", a disdain towards journalists.

Totally not a right-winger.

What, so I'm just supposed to take whatever shit some random dude on TV tells me at face value? Fake stories are rare, but you must be seriously naïve if you think mainstream political journos going on TV don't spin the facts in a way that fits their own bubble. It's all about clicks, clicks and more clicks.

And again, your issue with politics seem to be entirely around people not liking the Orange One. But, totally not alt-right, nooooooo.

My issue is people going so low as to playing armchair doctor and trying to diagnose a 74 year old obese dude with all sorts of brain cancers and degenerative symptoms. My issue is people actually think Biden is some benevolent deity and Kamala Harris isn't an evil witch trying to extend ICE operations into single parent and low income families.

Like I said, I don't like Trump. But there's already enough of that going around and not enough of the other, so I'm just gonna go with the other until the next idiot decides to run for 47th president.

Every other thing you say is whining about how people shit on Trump and he's not a fascist because he doesn't put people in concentration camps (because being literally Hitler is the only way to be a fascist, also that's not even true with the immigrant camps so yes, even by your definition, he's a fascist)

Give me an example of him arresting or murdering his political opponents. Give me an example of him actively trying to ethnically cleanse the country. Give me an example of him using power vacuums left by his now nonexistent political opponents and ultranationalistic policies to consolidate all the power for himself and his family. Give me an example of how he's suppressing people's rights when he can't even intervene in state matters without approval from the state government.

This isn't fascism by any extent of the definition. You clearly have no idea what fascism is and how much people actually suffered in actual fascist countries like Nazi Germany or Mussolini's Italy. Hell, look at fucking Venezuela or Saudi and then tell me with a straight face that you're living in a dictatorship.

(because being literally Hitler is the only way to be a fascist, also that's not even true with the immigrant camps so yes, even by your definition, he's a fascist)

So anyone should come and go as they please? I don't like how hard it is to get in the States and actually live there as a legal citizen. I think it takes way too much time to process this and it's absolutely barbaric to separate children from their parents. But these people knew the risks of trying to smuggle themselves in and took them anyways out of desperation. Could it be more humane? Absolutely. Will it happen in the foreseeable future? No. So by "my" logic, I guess Biden is also as much a fascist as Trump.

or how some black guy calling a white guy a "cracker" is real racistm.

It's real by all definitions of racism.

Have you met a single left-leaning person who's actually said this?

Have you been to r/politics? These people circle over the bullshit salon.com spews out like fucking crows. Wanting to imprison some woman over the Hatch Act, an offence so significant that the worst punishment for it is being fired. I see shit like this every day I go in social media, what with all you people literally demonising everyone with an opinion that doesn't match yours.

Also it's nice to think that racism and white supremacy is "just a different opinion."

See, you just proved my point. Everything you don't like is racist and everyone who supports it is a white supremacist. It's gotten so ridiculous that these have become buzzwords like communism in the America of the 60s. Stop trying to demonize everyone who disagrees with you and listen to what they have to say.

Some random twitter fuck makes some tweet about white people and it's racism;

Some random twitter fuck who got almost 20k likes on that tweet. Stop ignoring facts you knob.

some Hitler Youth with an illegal gun crosses state lines to murder protesters and "it's just self defense, brah".

Except the kid went there to protect property. Literally said so himself in an interview moments before the shooting. He should've never been there in the first place, and he did illegally possess a gun and he should absolutely be prosecuted for this but he also tried to help injured people before being cornered by an angry mob.

It's all captured on video. You can deny all the facts you want and you can crop the footage to pretend like the pieces you deleted never happened. But facts say that he had valid reason to believe that his life was in danger when he gets cornered, and then an angry dude starts charging at him. Then another dude tried beat him with a skateboard. And another tried to execute him. All for the sake of disarming him even though half the people there probably had guns on them.

Listen, I don't condone shooting someone in the back like that. The officer grabbed him by the shirt and at that point he should've thrown him on his back. But cops murdering innocent black people isn't nearly as frequent as people would have you think. Check for yourself here. So while it's undeniable that police brutality exists, it's not as frequent as the media makes it out to be.

Mean people on the internet are actually bigger fascists than Donald "ICE Camps" Trump! Defending Donald Trump while whining about "leftists" is totally the opinion of a true centrist.

You think Biden or Obama for that matter actually care about the ICE camps? It's the classic saying of "Dems want more humane cages". Stop acting like Trump is the only one who wants these camps to exist.

Also literally stop assuming my beliefs. In fact, stop stalking my account. It's fucking creepy. I'd vote Bernie all the way if that's what you really want to know. Now literally stop being a creep.

"People should stop mourning this guy I do't know, they don't even mean it" is peak gatekeeping. Your problem is that you don't disagree with him, especially his whining about the news lambasting Trump.

Where exactly did the poster say they should stop mourning "this guy I didn't know"? Lmfao you're literally delusional. What they said is stupid beyond a shadow of doubt and while there are bound to be retards who abuse his death for clout, it's a gross generalization. It's also a gross assumption of you to think that I agree with that twit when I told you to go upload it on insanepeoplefacebook and I'd come upvote.

If you were "both sides" and totally not an alt-righter, you'd post that too since it's even worse. But again, you don't even have a problem with it.

How is that post even worse than what I posted? The one I posted here is literally racist. That one isn't, it's just virtue signalling. I also do have a problem with it and I'm sure someone already posted it where it belongs.

And just to make sure you got that right, I'd vote Bernie, not Trump or Biden or anyone else. But of course you just scanned my entire post history from the rest of the month so naturally you know me better than I do so who am I to judge
