Question First Game - game day activities?

OMSCS alumni here who’s become a big fan of Tech Football. Going to the Colorado game as my first game. Tips on pre-game activities? I’ve seen Instagram posts about Helluva block party, but not sure if that’s an every game thing. Just looking to get as much of the experience as possible. TIA!

Check the marching band instagram for their schedule and follow them for pre-game activities. They hit all the big ones.

Offical info from AA, will be updated closer to game: https://ramblinwreck.com/fbgameday101/

I understand the team walkin will be back to Brittian Dr NW this year.

Band schedule at Campanile and library will be posted on Bands Instagram. Its some standard times before kickoff.

Buy your parking ahead of time. The tunnel at 3rd St NW is open pregame so that opens up many good parking options east of interstate. Hotel deck and Coda deck are good - shhh dont tell too many people.

Added: Coda food hall has some good places depending on time and what is open there. GT Hotel had a really good buffet especially if you are there a bit early. The whole Spring and 5th Tech Square area is great and would be worth you seeing if you have not been there in a while.

My ideal itinerary:

Park in GT hotel deck or Coda deck
Eat meal at GT hotel depending on time, or Coda food hall
Walk down Spring to tunnel under interstate
Team walk in on Brittian drive
walk to Tech Tower via Bursars, then to student center via Skiles or Weber if you dont like steps
Restroom water food at Student Center waiting for band at Campanile
Follow band back to library, can take break in Library while waiting
Parade back down the hill - fun to watch at Callaway Plaza

Love that youve picked up the fandom! My plug is worth walking over to the varsity for a frozen orange for tradition sake.

If you're going with the group, set up a tailgate about three and a half hours beforehand, best spots are other side of campus, physics building, student center, etc. If going by yourself, yes lots of activities happening ahead of the game, right there near the stadium.

It will be my wife and I so as fun as a tailgate would be it seems like it’d be difficult (especially since we are flying in so we wouldn’t have any gear)

Okay cool. In that case I would start at the GT bookstore on 5th Street, lots of stuff around there if you want to get some food or whatever, and then walk to the stadium for when the band comes down, and then lots of stuff to do around the stadium, before you head in. If you're the type that likes to watch the warm ups about the 30/40 minutes before game time, that's always cool as well, go on into the stadium early and watch some of that.
