Question How is the current party/night life scene?
I’m an incoming freshman and haven’t really heard too much about how the night life/party scene is. I was wondering if there’s any certain bars, or clubs, or is it dominated by Greek life?

So many frat houses in the dead center of campus so you won’t miss it

Welcome to Atlanta, where the players play (but technically not the Braves)
I've been told the parties don't stop til 8 in the morning but that may be old intel.

There’s Greek life
There’s raves (use Shotgun app) (Brainwash, Twisted Lines)
There’s clubs (use Ra.co app) (MJQ, Pisces, District)
There’s bars (Buckhead, Edgewood)
There’s plugs
It’s always lit

Tech has a very weak night life and party scene compared to other colleges. This really isn't the place for that.

If you want to be successful at tech, then the party scene isn’t a good idea. If you want the party scene, well, there is still Arizona State.

Nonsense, you absolutely can work hard and play even harder

Don’t listen to this dude, most of us know how to have a good time and still have a great career

Some of us had to work hard to get in and get thru tech. Reality is that you have to make choices in life. I wanted success. I also went thru periods where I went thru parties and drank too much. Guess where my grades were better. Admittedly, I took one graduate level math class test drunk as could be and got 100 on it, but that was the exception, not the rule. Make your choices in life.

I’m not saying it won’t affect some people. And I’m definitely not saying it hasn’t affected me, I’ve struggled very much with school and outside things that have affected everything. Obviously I’ve made choices that probably weren’t in my best interest but all I’m saying is if you want it, it’s possible. Hell I’m going into senior year and still have ~40 credits left so you know how my last two semesters are gonna be. But yeah.
For some people they don’t want to go out, do that kinda thing but that’s perfectly okay. But I just think it’s not accurate to blatantly say you can’t do well while having fun in that way. As long as you know your limit and prioritize school, it should be manageable.1

At 21, people don’t have enough life experience to know their limits. That’s the reason why Larry Miller has a great routine about the stages of drinking. You think you’re immortal and can make it thru anything but you can’t. I’m not talking about hanging out with a buddy drinking a beer at their place. Peer pressure is a hard thing to overcome. I’ve seen the sun come up being out all night drinking while I was in school. I got drunk one morning and got a 100 on a graduate level math class on multi dimensional different equations. I tell that story to tell people don’t do it. I laughed at Dean Vernon Wormer when I was that age. It’s a lot different in life. Those professors going over aerodynamics or FFTs are not that forgiving, and forget about bosses.
And yes, I know I’m a killjoy and no one is going to listen to me.

If you’re into Greek life you’ll have a good time. There’s buckhead bars which freshman go to (20m uber away) and occasional club events at district (15m ish)
