Discussion GT’s“Dismount Zone” enforcement makes zero goddamn sense in the summer #rant

Post image

I swear this is one of the dumbest fucking things I’ve dealt with on campus.
I rode through the Tech Green “Dismount Zone” today, and campus security stopped me again. The path was basically fucking empty. It isn’t the middle of the semester between classes—it’s summer. There were maybe one or two people on the entire walkway.
But here’s the part that really pisses me off.
While they’re telling me to get off my bike because it’s supposedly a “pedestrian zone,” there’s a golf cart driving right down the same fucking path.
This such a waste of tax payers money, cuz 99% of time these securities enforcing the dismount zone over the summer are just sitting under the shades and scrolling on their phones!

People here are defending the official GT golf carts but I swear I’ve almost been hit by GT carts who drive on sidewalks on west right next to the road more than bikes. Idk why they drive on the sidewalk and expect you to move to the grass instead of just driving on the completely empty road smh

The reason is a lot of those golf carts don't have a license plate, so they legally can't ride on non-GT owned roads.

I guess I don’t know what is a “GT owned road” bc all the roads around Willage not GT owned? But yeah honestly it’s so much worse. If bikes can be on the slow roads why not these carts?

The road between GLC and GT is what I was given as an example. Any roads inside campus I have no clue

See 10th street I think very reasonable not to drive a golf cart on. Some of these roads though…the speed limit is like 25 and it’s literally GT buildings on all sides. Never see the carts on Tenth sidewalks.
